A very easy way to tell posi from non posi. Look at the fill plug. IF it has a 3/4" square that you use an open end wrench on to remove with a tag hanging from it IT'S POSI. IF it has a fill plug that takes a 3/8ths. drive extension to remove it's NON POSI. The 3.42 gear ratio is stamped on the pumpkin kinda inline with the pinion flange & stamped 3.42 on the very edge of the cast iron pumpkin. NOT on the rear steel housing itself.
As stated 401's NEVER had 2x4 from the factory. The valve covers did NOT come out until '64. The Rally/Road wheels didn't come out until '64 & ONLY on Wildcats. The correct tach in '63 would have said 7000 RPM's. I'm sure there's other points missed.

    In any case NICE CAR!!!!

Is the radio original? About 1963 was the first year for FM in a car, and 1964 was about the first year for "ALL TRANSISTOR" units. My '62 Impala was AM with tubes. Then what about the tachometer thing?? ws

I'm doing some digging with the Sloan Museum regarding production totals for 4-speeds...
    looks like 167 4-speed coupes produced. 46 of them with a 425 + 4-speed.
I need to verify some codes, but this is what I'm coming up with from the Daily Production Reports.
