1960 Electra questions

I was wondering what are the differences between an Electra and the Electra 225? How to tell apart?

We got a 1960 Electra (or 225, I'm not sure) 4 door hardtop in the local bone yard and I'm in the process of "rescueing" parts from it. Would help if I knew what I was dealing with. (parts will be listed on ebay very soon if anyone needs anything-hope it's ok to say that here)

Also, car has a 4bbl. Has Wildcat 445 on the air cleaner. What size engine would this be? What would be worth rescueing on a car like this? Anything in particular hard to find?

Guess you can tell, I don't know much about 1960 Buicks. While I'm mostly a Chevy guy, I can't stand to see all these good parts go to waste as this yard doesn't keep cars for too long. (plus, this is one cool looking car!!!) I love 59/60 GM cars. :Brow: I would like to find good homes for as much of the parts as I can.

Getting anything from the inside of the car will be a challenge though as all 4 doors don't want to open for me! :Dou: I did get alot of exterior trim and the 4bbl air cleaner. Has complete engine. Will rescue more parts if I learn what's desirable on these.

    Thanks for any help,

    Bob

    Bob,

Look at the Body Number Plate under the bonnet,
or check the VIN plate in the drivers door (at the hinges)

    Starting with a 7, it's an Electra
Starting with an 8, it's an Electra 225 :TU:

hi, u can easily spot a 225 from a regular Electra by looking at the side trim. If it has a large riffled aluminum side trim from the middle of the door to the bottom, then it's the 225. Also if it's a four door hardtop with a 6 Window top, the it's also a 225. Only Cadillacs and the Electra 225 had this Top. It's the other 4 door top. Looks like a regular 4 door top, but is a hardtop. I would need a good carburator... Look here:

Thanks guys. I'll check the car again "armed" with all this info.

So far, there doesn't seem to be much interest in parts for this year/model. I checked ebay and really not much there other than some repro parts. (not sure if that's a good sign or a bad one)

I'll list a few things and see if I get any bites...

    Thanks,

    Bob

    65electra401 My 225 ain't a Cadillac

The Wildcat 445 emblem is a 401. The Wildcat 465 emblem is a 425. I have a 65 electra and i asked about it when i first got the car. But, yeah, that is what the numbering is like. Glad i could help.

    Jason,

This is about a model year 1960 car, there wasn't a 425 with 465 lb-ft torque by that time.
But the 401 had a torque figure of 445 :TU:
