Fatmans Fabrications fatmanfab.com makes dropped uprights for the 56. Also this guy on ebay has these. I dont know how well it would work, kinda old school. Ebay item number 390100315697.

I bought the dropped uprights from fatman and all went smooth. Ya gotta heat and bend the steering arms to keep from getting bump steer. they send inst. w/ pics to show you how to do this. The only problem we had was the with the rubber brake lines. They will get pinched and rub if you plan on keeping the original drum brake setup. we bought longer brake hoses and routed them a little differently. Oh, and for some reason it seemed like they used a lathe cut threads in the bottom pivot pin and the bushngs threads were a bit different. In 55 buick also used 2 different style uprights so i had to send a tracing of mine to fatman to make sure i got the correct ones. Might be diff for 56 though. good luck and have fun

I just installed a pair of the Fatman units on my '55 Super (same part as your '56). They are very nicely constructed & installed perfectly. The instructions are good & if you need tech support, you can call & talk to them- I did & they we're very friendly & helpful. A little spendy, but I think worth it for the extra 2 inches of drop.
