I was cruising craigslist and found a 55 super for sale in Fresno ca. I have no dog in this fight, just a fan of 55's http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/2628094789.html
Love it! If there is anything I like more than a '65 it's the 55 or 56 Buick. 15K seems a bit high to me, but a nice car that could be awesome with a bit of work and money.
yeah bham i think he means 15 grand, dam if its 15 hundred i would be on my way to fresno right now , I also think 15 grand is high but it seems to be a nice car.
I am a new user here. Can you please tell me how to start a post on this site? I emailed the site owner and did not hear back from him. I also looked under the various tabs and cannot find it. I have a 55 super and need to find an NOS fuel pump. Thanks.
On the front page of the site after you sign in scroll down and you will find the various categories used on the site. Pick one of the appropriate categories and click on it. Ater it loads there will be a black button in the upeer left that says "new post" or something on that order. Click on that button and fill in the fields, scroll down and click on the enter button. Mike D. PS: I am doing this from memory so the buttons might be named different than I indicated. Hope this helps.
Kanter auto parts; CARS Buick parts is where. Look at page 45 (at the bottom) You'll notice that there are two fuel pumps for 1955, an early and a late. Count the screws on top of your fuel pump. 1 screw on top; Late '55. 6 screws on top; Early '55 Whichever you have on the car is the one to buy Also, the valve covers tell the story; dual Oil fillers (1 each) in the valve covers; Late '55 Single oil filler in the valley pan; early '55 CARS(page 45) http://www.oldbuickparts.com/cat360/36003.pdf Kanter http://www.kanter.com///productdeta...0&Vdr=&Itm=&MDv=1&MDpt=0&MSb=0&Cat=42&Prc=184
An NOS is going to very hard to find. And, the single screw pump (late) might be the better choice. The multiple screws have a tendency to back out........
Thank you for the help Jim. The car is at my friend's shop, so I will need to check to see if it is early or late 55.
Glad to help! on the rare time I know an answer to a question. The two pumps may interchange.......... I'm not certain, though.... o No: I'll post the question on The nailhead section , Tom or Doc or John will know for sure. I'll send you a PM with a link And you can call me Bulldog
The 2 different pumps do inter-change. I found the answer in my own photos; My car with an older style pump (photo dated 1980); My car with the newer style pump (photo dated 2010)
