    Yeah, Spidey-senses are tingling...
    On the positive side though, is that it is a manual tranny and probably has no options to speak of, plus it's a post car. So a very plain-jane car from an off-year. Both the 53 and the 55 were better looking, the 54 just doesn't have it. So...it might be legit...Maaco paint-jobs aren't to expensive and do look acceptable from 20 feet away.

    Same car but for double the money. Hmmm....
    Looking at the second ad, it's actually quite a presentable car, even if it is as plain-Jane as it gets.

    two things wrong with this;
    •"numbers matching" did not start until 1958
    •1954 Special had a 264 nailhead

    So, even if it has the original factory 264 , the numbers won't match.
    I would like t to go in person on these sellers, and ask them to show me the matching numbers.
