TA says that they are out of 11/32 exhaust valves till June...anybody got a set to sell? Should I change my order to the standard valve stem size? Whats the big gain from that configuration? Any suggestions?...thanks....fish
Call Around... Call around to other Buick vendors. Someone should have something in stock. Go 11/32. Don't mess with the 3/8. All the good stuff is available in 11/32. Lighter setup. :TU:
I have a set of 11/32 stem 2.25 manley severe duty stainless valve in stock. They are brand new.5.350 long to allow for a 2.0 installed height sping with a chevy keeper groove.Shoot me a PM if your interested.I don't have exhausts in stock but could get you a set in a week.
i used a 1.77 11/32 pontiac ferrea exhaust valve and cut them down to 1.75. and a 2.125 intake valve for a brodix sbc head. i would have to do some research to find the lengths i used. i know the ex valves were about .050 shorter than the intakes. i corrected that with +.050 keepers and lash caps on the exhaust valves.
The reason why they are the only ones in stock is because nobody wants them. I dont know why they ever sold them with 3/8 valves?
Valves... I'm surprised some guys haven't messed with the mm or 5/16 Nascar stuff. It wouldn't probably be good for drag roller stuff but I know a lot of guys use flat tappets and the exhaust would be a good place to start on Stg 1 stuff. I figured we were on the topic and they are beating the crap out of Nascar engines turning them 9800 .... o No:
3/8 Dave if you need the heads now get the 3/8 valves,my IRON HEADS have 3/8 valves in them and there heavy manley valves and my motor made big power i dont think you would ever know what valves are in your heads if no one ever told you, get the heads and put them on and go have some fun. thats what i think. later JOHN
Smaller stem / lighter valves are nice. But there are much more critical parameters of valve design that can make or break exhaust flow. The wrong design valve can loose you exhaust flow, big time. Unless you are doing alot of flow testing with your new valves, I would personally go with the 3/8" valves with known parameters, if the 11/32's are not available.
Thanks for the input guys I got the heads coming soon with the 3/8 stem big valves, went ahead and ordered valves with the heads,so straight to the shop to get finished they will go. can't the guides be changed later anyway??....thanks guys....fish
I think it matters what kind of rpm you are planning on. At very high (maybe 6K+) there will be a slight advantage, as there would be with a roller cam. I think you should wait and get the 11/32's, that way I'll move up on the long list at TA. :Brow: Mike said he was suppose to get a shipment of seats in by last Thursday, so they should be able to get going on our heads pretty soon.
???? Nobody told me there was a problem on their end. All I was told was end of the week...this worries me....fish
You must be at the top of the list. I was near the bottom, but I do know that they were waiting for seats. No worries!
