Is anyone running a 10.50 x 28.5 slick on a 15 x 8 wheel with a stock wheel well?I'm justing finishing my 72 GS 455 and need to order tires and wheels.I don't really want to fold the lip up or jack up the car.I was thinking of a 15 x 8 Vette rallie wheel. If they won't fit with out any mods I'll probably go to a 9.00 x 28.I hope to run some low 11s or high 10s.If I go for the 9.00s will a 15 x 7 Chevy wheel fit? Thanks.
not a good idea to go with that wide of a tire on that rim you would be better off with a 29.5 or 30x9 slick on at least a 8 inch wheel preferably a 10 inch wheel with 5.5 backspace.
Hi, I've run a number of different tire/wheel combos on my car. If you want a 10.5" slick, you're going to have to put it on a 15x10 rim. Tread width is 10" and section width is just over 11.5". Plenty of room with 5.5" of backspacing. My tires are 13" wide on a 15x10 rim with 5.625" backspacing and they fit in the stock wheel wells with just a bit of trimming of the top of the fender well. If you want to stick to an 8" rim and 4.5" backspacing (which will keep wheel centered in wheel well), go with a 9" slick. Here's one of M/T's. You can go with a taller tire, but the 29.5" would be the tallest I'd go because of the curved upper wheel wells. 672-3054 Mickey Thompson ET Drag Slick 28.0'' x 9.0'' - 15'' L8 Compound Tire Compound: L8 Tire Overall Diameter: 27.3'' Average Roll Out/ Circumference: 86'' Tire Tread Width: 8.6'' Tire Section Width: 10.8'' Wheel Diameter: 15'' Spec Wheel Width: 8'' Tire Weight: 22.0 lbs Suggested Tube Part Number: 672-9552 Note: All dimensions @ 10psi cold on spec measuring wheel.
Vette Rallys I've run 10.5 Slicks on 8" vette ralleys with no interference. Back space on these is just about 4''. GS ran 11.30's back then. Tom
