I like this analogy I read in the discussion of recent crashes.... We're required to spend $ to keep our safety equipment up to date,The track owners should also be required to do the same. Concrete walls would've done alot better job in this case than the out-dated steel guardrails.......
I agree forget gaurdrails, they do more harm than good some of the time when it comes to the cars nowadays that build so much speed before the 1/8th...O-town especially should be concrete all the way...Fish
keep our safety equipment up to date,The track owners should also be required to do the same. dude ... this is Robert Hart, Don Nerone and FASCAR you're talking about. they just killed a cop at New Smyrna and they've (with Clyde Hart) been f'ing up Fla circle track racing for 30 damn years now. if ... IF they get out of that Chris Daniels deal w/o losing their @$$3$, you might have a chance of getting a concrete wall ... in 20 years. :blast: :spank: :af:
I have been questioning my "Over building" of my car,but after that little incident,I am now going to do just a bit more safety wise than originally planned. Looks like the cage isn't such a bad idea afterall...
Sheriffs were racing school buses for charity, one sheriff spun out... never tipped over or anything, but got ejected from the bus and was tragically run over by the next bus. It was sad. This link still works. http://www.local6.com/news/10078585/detail.html
yeah, those buses are normally kept out behind the Orlando circle track. you can go in the pits any Fri or Sat night and see what kind of shape they're in. scary. it's not QUITE as bad as it looks back there though, many of the buses on property are being used for parts.
Racing Wow that has to be one of the more horrific crashes ive ever seen. Cant wait to be going that fast though. :TU:
John Massoud and I were down in Orlando this weekend and saw the GTO crash from 100 feet away. Scary stuff for sure. Good to see the driver climb out and give thumbs up to the crowd.
crash Seriously guys I know your deep in the ETs and I urge you to use your saftey stuff. You never know when its you that holds the thumbs up to the crowd...and not for a good reason...Ive seen many crashes as the waterboxguy and this tops them I am suprised to see this man walk away unharmed. please please use anything available to keep yourselves safe.
Doug, we met at the first BPG event in Salem. I just want to say that I hope you keep yourself safe as a bug in a rug. We all know it's very dangerous to be pulling the front of your car off the ground to the heights that you do. Exciting but dangerous. I agree with the sentiment here that safety comes first. We take it for granted sometimes, or at least I do, that nothing bad will happen. But it can and it does. A tire blow out at the back end of the track in even a 14 second car could be a disaster. Safety first... helmet, belts, roll bars, etc. as is required.
Thanks for caring. I agree completely and I use every piece of safety equipment available for drag racing. While the big wheelies may be dangerous, I'm like a junkie. I can't stop and I don't want to. :3gears:
