got a friend who went 5.85 @ 116.54 mph in the eighth.....is there a formula to convert to 1/4 mile ET and MPH ?? I know its a guestimate without more data points to extrapolate....but whatever you've got !!!

Rick, your on the money with that quote (mine) I would agree he would be close to my times.

Alan this friend wouldn't by chance be Bruno? Cause at Cecil he was only running the 1/8th mile, because he didn't have a comp license.

I would say if the car is geared for the 1/8 it will run differently than for the quarter. But if it's geared for the 1/4 and he only ran in the 1/8th (Bruno's '64) I would say in the area of mid high 9.20's to mid high 9.30's at any good weather good traction eastern track. The runs below are from 3 tracks where I did no tuning at all to the car. The only variable was the elevation and weather. The E-Town runs were done when the weather conditions were a wet dream for a racer. At E-Town we had that one in 365 days that was the best conditions for any car racing.
    On my runs as follows:

    Cecil County, MD
    1/8 mile ET 5.93
    1/8 MPH 116.10
    1/4 mile ET 9.34
    1/4 MPH 143.26

    Englishtown, NJ
    1/8 mile ET 5.86
    1/8 MPH 117.02
    1/4 mile ET 9.259
    1/4 MPH 144.10

    Englishtown, NJ
    1/8 mile ET 5.863
    1/8 MPH 116.87
    1/4 mile ET 9.251
    1/4 MPH 144.03

    Salem, Ohio
    1/8 mile ET 5.95
    1/8 mile MPH 115.35
    1/8 mile ET 9.40
    1/4 MPH 141.55

In a perfect world :ball: I would have love to run that number, maybe after I get my trans freshened up with a different converter along with a new set of sticky sneakers on the rear plus some good east coast air, good traction and a tail wind. (My 60' foot time were also at the 1.31 mark.)

I guess I'll have to wait for a road trip to Atco, NJ in the Spring. Need to upgrade some safety equipment first.

The HUGE question comes to mind..."What if I run in the teens and what if Bruno does also....hmmm" I'll be shaving any weight I can find (maybe race naked?) naa pretty scary thought....nitrous....hmmm, just a short squirt...let's see it's been 15 years 3 months 4 days 12 hours and 90 seconds since I use the stuff. (Belong to Nitrous anonymous  ) I may just have to "fall off the wagon"...just once. :pp

I don't mean on competing with Bruno, I hope he runs the number. A little power shot squeeze his way can't hurt either. What I want him to do is to make sure he gets his butt out to Norwalk in the spring to show them Ohio boyz some eastern muscle on the 1/4 :3gears:

    Multiply ET by 1.58
    Multiply MPH by 1.22

I think #1 on their agenda is driver certification. Is the chasis cert'd yet ??

Tranny is rebuilt....or in the process. Ahhh...to be retired and be able to play BUICK's all week long

Something close is to divide the 1/8 mile ET by 0.635.Usually pretty good but the traction is a variable sometimes.

    Nitrous??

Hey Rick, maybe if you didn't have to turn those monster tires in the back a teen might be pretty easy. Juice???? An 8 sec pass would be pretty nice. Making peak Hp at 7000 does make for a good combo to put nitrous on. :Brow:
