i believe i have a 1 1/4 front bar. i measured with a 1 1/4 open end wrench. the 1 1/8 would not fit over the straight part of the bar but the 1 1/4 did tight. as it sits now, i have that with no rear bar and unboxed lca's i have a factory set of rear boxed arms, new uppers, frame braces, and a factory 7/8 rear bar. if i install this bar and the rest of the pkg. will using the much smaller bar be all right or do i need to upgrade to a bigger rear bar? i am under the impression that you are suppose to have a bigger bar in the front and smaller in the rear but curious to know if you need to keep them within certain parameters thanks chris
Worked well on my '71. Those parts turned my beached whale into something better in the turns. Not quite a new Vette, but much better than it was as stock. I also added now springs & shocks.
i already put in the new shocks kyb gas adjusts have the rear springs that are not in yet put together the parts now to do the front end over in rubber. then new moog springs and i will probably use napa chasis parts they are made by affina for napa and look identical in pics to the raybestos pro grade stuff which is suppose to be good.
Make sure you use the polyurethane end link kits and sway bar bushings for the 1.25" bar. This article will help: http://www.buickperformance.com/swaybar.htm
I'm running 1 1/4" front and 1" which I imagine can't be much different then your 7/8". I am very pleased on how much it changed the turning quality. New shocks and stock springs finished it up.
I have a 1-1/4" front from a SD 455 Trans Am and a 7/8" Spohn Performance Pro-Touring rear swaybar. I used to run just a front bar for a real long time. After I put the rear one on last summer it was like night and day in the turns. You should enjoy the difference.
This has been my setup for the last 30 years I've owned my car. I bought the 1.25 bar as soon as I got it, put polyurethane bushings at the end links and frame links and put 60s all the way around. The boys with Trans Ams and Z28s (70s-80s) with the skinny front tires and N50s out back were amazed I could out corner them in my heavy Bu-Hog!
