Just took the block out of the crate and started using it as an expensive jig for oil pickup tubes. These pickups are quite difficult to build when compared to a stock Buick pickup. I'll get it..... eventually!

It may be a year or two before this block goes together...... we'll see.

    Steve,
Very nice and good luck with your new place! My guess is by winter you will be building that motor.

Thanks guys! The only way that this motor will be built this winter is if my current
    523 turns to dust! Lol

The pickup tube is .875 diameter and has a wall thickness of. 065. All of my pickups to date have been made with 3/4" tube so I' m basically starting from scratch.

I haven't taken the time to take current pictures of my place. I hope to do this soon and I'll post some pics when I do.

Thats a big pickup tube Steve. Are you going to open up the oil gallery in the front of the block to match the tube size?
    Cheers

Royden, I'm working with Mike T. to develop this oil pickup for the Tomahawk and 7/8" is what he wants. I don't think it's too large as most oil system experts want larger intake tubes for less restriction. Whatever Mike recommends for modifications to the block is what I would follow, however.... for this engine (mine) I'll be using either my existing Peterson external oil/vacuum pump or I'll switch (if my funds allow) to a dry sump system. Either way my internal oil passage's that connect to the pump will be blocked off. I'm very happy with my Peterson oil system and since I already own it, that's what I'll use.

Thanks for the reply Steve. Might have to watch this space and stepup to 7/8" in the future. Mike told me it can be opened up if required.
    Cheers
