I KNOW my ignition person that does HEI conversions says .045 gap, NO LARGER.

I remember him saying that years ago, GM had a few ignition packages they ran .060 and .080 on, and had a LOT of failure problems/issues, and to rectify them, they dropped the spark plug gap down to .045 stopping the failures and running problems.

I just got a free 1991 Buick Park Avenue Ultra, 3.8 Tuned port EFI engine. It had one of the ignition modules failed, no spark on two cylinders. Replaced ignition module, after former owner had replaced the coil pack, and dropped the spark plug gap down to .045 from .060, no problems now.
