That silver (#69, Silver Mist) is the factory color of my car. I think silver with the red interior would have looked stunning.

Cool GS400 Allen. I've often thought about storing the original 400 in my car, so it doesn't meet the same fate, and putting a 455 in it.

Wow…. it’s been a while since I’ve updated. A lot has happened. I was able to get the 455 pulled out of the ‘67.
    IMG_0678.jpeg IMG_0682.jpeg
The 455 ran great but had been sitting for about 20 years. It needed a good clean and respray.
    IMG_1368.jpeg IMG_1386.jpeg
The exhaust manifolds on it were pretty corroded. Found a set local that were in much better shape. A quick blast and a coat of POR15 made a big difference.

I picked up some chrome valve covers to add a little ‘bling”.
    IMG_1494.jpeg
The Accel distributor and wires were pretty crusty with 20 years of storage residue. Spent 1/2 an hour with some Simple Green (great cleaner) and some elbow grease and ended with a big improvement.

I’m hoping to get the pulleys, fan, and alternator mount cleaned up and back on the engine (along with the driver’s side manifold) this weekend and the engine into the ‘69 in the next couple of weeks.
Pulling the painted valve covers yesterday, the engine looks nice and clean.

    More updates coming.

I also picked up this intake. It will be going on the engine once I get it up here. Tough finding an aftermarket Buick intake.

Alan, Is this the car for the pistons and rods? Did they arrive ok? I really like the car and interior. Has it been a Canadian car all its life? Tony

    Tony,
It is. The pistons and rods arrived in St. Louis but I’m still up in Canada. I’ll be down there at the start of April and will be bringing them back up here with the intake. Thanks again for the parts!!
I contacted the GM Historical group up here and they stated it was originally a US car. It was in a museum for around 20 years prior to the previous owner buying it in 2011.

Now...a nice set of original 15" Buick ralleys would do that car justice IMHO.

I totally agree. The wheels on it are coming off. Definitely not fond of them. If I can find a nice set of 15” rally wheels they’d be going on, I do have a nice set of 14’” Magnum 500’s (GM bolt pattern) that I am really leaning towards putting on the car.

Does anyone have a photo of how the starter wiring is routed? I’m assuming this is screwed down as it has mounting tabs, just not sure where.
    Thanks in advance

It bolts to the side of the engine block.

Thanks. That would explain why I couldn’t find the mounting holes in the engine bay….. what size bolts/screws are used?

OK, I’m thinking I’ll be replacing the battery cable to the starter…….

Nah, that’s fine! Just wrap it with some cheap electrical tape!

Not a bad idea. It's reproduced.

How does the wiring “protection block” come apart to get the wiring out? I’d prefer to not destroy it.
    IMG_1599.jpeg

    Thanks in advance.

It dose not come apart, originals are one piece molded. I think reproduction are 2 piece.

As you will learn, next time wire the starter, install the starter brace along with that bracket and block before you drop motor in…

Where were you 5 days ago!
I’ve wired a starter loose and then bolted it in position before. I’ll likely have to do that again. I figured there were enough obstructions dropping the engine into the bay the way it was, I didn’t want to add another thing for 3 people to look at adding the starter. Thinking about it now, that would have been a better plan.
