Yes Brett, that's among the other issues. There's a lot of stuff with the batteries. The posts on them now are shorter and fatter. Metric, I think. lol If you use spring rings, you really should shave them otherwise you have to open them too far.

Going by the specs those two batteries are made by different people. Just by the weight alone. Is the Turbostart a AGM battery? Any thoughts on this. In my case I'd go with the lighter one.
So I have topper ready with some original cap that I have had for several years. I currently have a delco battery. It really doesn't fit well on it. What are some cheap recommendations for a battery that we work better. I'll use the delco except for shows. Thanks Zach
I have a Bosch battery I bought back in June of 2013. It is almost 8 years old! It still cranks the 470 over easily. I have never had it on a charger or tender. I have one of those disconnects with the green wheel. I use that disconnect feature anytime I am not driving the car. I have had the battery topper for 16 years now. The battery has to be flat on top for the topper to fit properly, any raised vent caps are a no go.
I'm pretty happy with my topper setup and the spring ring cables. I also use the green knob disconnect like Larry and it's a good system. I've got some of the green marbles coming and will do the "green eye" thing mentioned previously.
Mike, you should check Ground Up, too. I know AMES has batteries but I'm not sure which ones. You definitely don't want an acid battery. Larry, that tag always goes on the neg. cable. That's excellent battery life! Ray, you should shave your (+) post. There's a cheap tool you can buy or borrow with blades to do that. That's what I was talking about with the posts before. You can see how the spring ring is spread too far. The tabs should be like parallel. In the older days like 25 years ago, there were good spring rings and bad ones. Now they are mostly all good. I have a disconnect like yours on my cars. I'm not picking on you guys, just trying to help.
What is the final answer on the color of the "eye"? Clear when the battery is full and green when the battery is low? The green does look cool but that would mean my battery is low on fluid?
Frank schooled me about this at beaver springs. Much to Stacy's (dentboy) amusement.... Dark eye is full, green eye is low. It's actually in the owners manual.
Reminds me of an old auto parts store in Boyds, MD that closed down in the early 90s. They had a whole rack of Delco batteries. R59s, R69s, etc. Should have bought the entire rack and all but bought 2 R69s and flipped them for a good profit. The cool thing was that they were all dry with acid separate so for show you could just put the dry battery in. Bill Amos (MAGS founder) bought one for his 71 GS to use for show.
Why not have a functional circuit? Green LED that is illuminated when the battery is low? Maybe just too impractical for the community? But a thought worth sharing.
. But green looks so cool Here is an original battery (different series but they eye would be the same), the eye actually looks clear (no color)
Hi Brett Yes I did and Todd is the only person who carries them. I thought it better for you guys south of the 49th, if you could buy them from Todd instead of me here in Canada. If Todd is out of stock, I can hook you up, but try Tod first. Cheers
