So, if it was guaranteed to be as reliable as a '90s Honda and never, ever break down (I know some of you have had Hondas from the 90s that had broken down, but seriously, don't take everything so literally), and you didn't have to pay for it, what would you own as a "special" car? If you knew you'd go into the garage and it'd fire right up, run, and drive just like it was supposed to every time you wanted it to, and you'd never wreck it so you don't have to take repair costs into account, what's "the one"? For me, it used to be a Cobra 427 SC. As I've gotten older, I think it'd be one of these:
So a couple of things about a miura, Jay Leno has 2, Jay knows a guy that had one that built a fire proof garage to keep it in and when the wildfires came through Californina it used the garage as a kiln and baked the muria to the ground. Also the miura was probably the only car that came out as a prototype and didn't loose any of the styling when it went into production.
If we are talking classics, maybe a 59 Eldorado Biarritz. It was truly the best of the best in its day. One could argue it might be one of the finest cars GM ever made if you compare it to its contemporaries. Style, power, and world-class prestige. If we are going modern, I would say an Aston Martin DB 11. I saw one up close in Lima last summer.... pretty impressive and you could drive it anywhere.
Hi, Several dream cars come to mind, but guess I would get one I wouldn't ever have the chance to buy, or be very practical, but defines cool IMHO Always a fan of early gasser and grew up with the Hot Rod 1979 movie. Might even ask for it in primer gray, lol Regards, Jim
US car, 7th generation Corvette. The supercharged one. Non US, a Ferrari or maybe an Aston Martin. The new Hummer is also on the list.
1969 L88 roadster sidepipe car These things were absolute monsters,...and with some modern touches you a would have something that will humble most new stuff
OK, you guys with the esoterica, please do tell us what the heck these machines are? I thought Lucas's was a Pantera, luckily Joe bailed me out on that one. That yellow beast above? Citroen? Renault? Help.
The Motion GSX, a Mark II Cadillac, a Hemi Superbird, and a full-fiberglass 69 Wildcat, and for the wife an original AC Cobra.
Diego’s is a Citroen (SM?). Someone near me owns one and brought it to our local cruise-in. I spent close to an hour looking over it, figuring out all its complications. His was americanized so the headlights were not directional, but it has a hydraulic active suspension, and all the accessories and suspension pump are mounted on a frame seperate from the engine, belt driven by a jackshaft off the front of the engine. Crazy. Patrick Here’s one:
".....1969 L88 roadster sidepipe car These things were absolute monsters,...and with some modern touches you a would have something that will humble most new stuff" hugger, I drove one of them once in the early 80's. It was my Boss's 4-speed car and i got to drive it before it was restored. The car simply had gobs of power and would jump with the slightest touch of the pedal. It was the most powerful car I ever drove, and you could barely control all of that power. That car would let you kill yourself in a quarter of a second. I am always surprised there are any of them left. Duane The more I think about it, it might have been a 68 car. I know it was a factory convertible 435 horse 427 3-2 BBl 4-speed car. I still remember that drive like I was sitting in it today, and yes the top was down.
