I like it, market is softening, $77,000 gavel price. 1972 BUICK GS 455 STAGE 1 CONVERTIBLE (barrett-jackson.com)
That's funny... Last time I checked it was still Dec. 2022.... It may sell for 77k at Barrett- Jackson in 2023.. I guess the guy who just paid 130 k for this car a couple of month's ago on Bring a Trailer might settle for a 50 k haircut. .. Regards..... Frank
Exactly, it's the car that sold for $133k on Bring A Trailer. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-buick-gs-stage-1-convertible/ Anyone want to predict what the next price with be? Up or down from the $133k?
I think it'll be down, but won't be 50k down. I don't know where that came from... I'm curious to see how this one plays out.
If I recall the discussion about this vehicle correctly, I think there were issues pointed at that kind of cast doubt on the veracity of the 2017 MCACN Concours Gold award. Incredibly nice car but I think the bidding got out of control and I think the market has gone down since March as interest rates have gone up. So, my guess is down and that the high bid will be 110k which is more of what I would have expected in March. https://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/1972-stage-1-convertible-flame-orange-4-speed-on-bat.375648/
Dano, Mine was Burnished Copper and now resides in a Boston collector's capable hands. I still have my Flame Orange 72 4-speed vert, heck I've owned it since 1977 or 1978. Regards, Upstaged in SW Michigan.
Just stirring the pot. I actually like that interior with the orange, I do not know why. Bench 4 speed is sweet. Was that wing original do you think?
No, the rear spoiler was never installed on the ’70-‘72 convertibles. In ‘72 the GSX got them (44 made) and 72 additional ‘72 Gran Sports (non-GSX, GS350 & GS455 but no GS Stage 1s) got the WA6 option rear spoiler. All of the cars with spoilers were hardtops and all were built at Flint since they were SCO cars.
I was off by $20k. Someone gambled and lost. Bought high and sold lower. This was an expensive lesson on how not to flip a Buick GS. Bought on Bring A Trailer for $133,455 + $5,000 buyers fee + shipping. Sold for $120k -sellers fee (10%?) -cost to ship the car to AZ -expenses to attend B-J.
