Hi Sean , nice work !!!! What primers are those that you are using ? Was that an epoxy you put on the bare body after it came back from blaster ?

The black is PPG DP90. We put that on right after it is sandblasted. Then do our bodywork etc. Once it's ready for primer surfacer we put DP down again for corrosion protection but also it works great to have a black base for block sanding the primer surfacer. Once you sand and start seeing black you know you're out of material and stop. For a primer surfacer we use PPG K38. However this primer is some aftermarket stuff from 5-star. K38 is on national backorder.

That's what I thought it was , I use it to . There is a product that I got introduced to a while back that I use that is another corrosion resistance epoxy from PPG's fleet line called CRE ( corrosion resistant epoxy ) , builds unbelievable , hard as nails , won't shrink , block the death out of , not expensive at all, etc . Look it up , maybe give it a try , you might like it .

Little update. She's ready for paint. Underside is painted, inside has Lizard Skin. Seam sealing seams today and hopefully paint tomorrow. Anyone have roof rack bases? We've misplaced a pair. (see pic)

I would not want to hang that DA tailgatw on a newly painted body. Those things are heavy!

Question Sean: Not that I've done a lot of cars, but I've always questioned the rationale of painting them w/o the doors/trunk lid installed. Not only because that's not the way the factory did it but more so because I'd rather align everything before painting (have had success with putting weights in the doors to simulate the glass/hardware). I could see cutting it in prior although not sure even that's necessary but would love to hear your thoughts.
