Is this the right starter l see mentioned from time to time as a good, light weight, replacement for our 455/350s? If not, what's the go-to starter these days? https://www.amazon.com/Starter-Camaro-Firebird-Formula-Impala/dp/B00TPLMQV6 And, are the right bolts included with the above starter? Will it install with the factory starter heat shield?
Here is the one that I used... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008Y3O44...oding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Yes, that will work. One long bolt, one short. There are specific mini starter bolts that do not come with it. The stock heat shield stays in place. I use the Robb Mc starter which is much more expensive, but it is adjustable for pinion clearance, and it comes with a pinion support option. (which I need for locked out timing.) https://www.robbmcperformance.com/products/buick_starter.html
I have used this one without issue for 10 years now. It shows unavailable but it is always in and out of stock. https://www.dbelectrical.com/produc...-jeep-mini-starter-long-short-mt-sdr0059.html
Does this starter have the terminal that places 12 volts onto the coil during cranking when used with the factory wiring harness?
Make sure you get one with the correct solenoid if you want that function. You can accomplish the same thing with a diode should your solenoid not have the "R" terminal.
Mine came in today. Man, it is a cute little thing and it feels lighter than the old solenoid on my huge starter.
The mini starters are nice, mostly from the install and removal aspect, hell I'd set my old one on the pad of a floor jack just to connect the wiring, too damn heavy to hold
I dropped one of them stupid ass things on my face when I was a kid from about 2ft high,....87 Silverado lifted a few in on 35s,...hit rite on the bridge of my nose and forehead hurt like a summa biatch
