Hawken/Ken, Send it out and I will make sure it's OK when I get it. If OK I will add you to the list. I am dropping off a batch of prepared cores to my mold man today, to start him off. I should have another batch to take up within a week or two so the timing will be just fine. Thanks. Duane ---------- Post added at 09:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:10 AM ---------- PS. I also want to thank the moderator that added the word "Steering" to my title. I didn't think of the possible confusion of rallye steering wheel vs rally rim at the time. Duane
Hey Duane, If I send you a core whats the cost for a wheel done with the GSX finish ? Thanks. Marcel.
Marcel, As I stated above I don't know how much the final cost will be. This time I am buying the cores outright and not doing a core exchange. This way if anything happens, or if things get delayed, I am taking all the risks and the customers will not be out any money. The last thing I need is a bunch of people complaining that I cannot get their parts back. For years I have kept the current price structure the same even though material costs have gone up annually, sometimes more then twice annually. I have been "eating" the additional costs per wheel all this time, but now the costs are to the point where they are approaching the price I am getting for them. This same thing happened years ago, and I was forced to raise my prices. Beyond the material costs, the wheels are labor intensive, and averaged out around 3 hours per wheel, but as the cores get older it takes more time to re-condition all the little nicks/scratches out of them. Once we get into production I can average out the cost of the cores, the amount of prep time needed, and the cost of the material, and come up with a final price. If you send me a core and want a finished wheel I will buy your core for up to $100.00 and put you on the list so you will have an opportunity to purchase a repro 70 GSX wheel when they are finished. That is the only info in regard to pricing that I can give you at this time. If you want to do this I need you to include a note with; your full name, full address, plus phone numbers, and times I can call, and any other info you want to supply, and send it to; Classic Car Interiors 120 President Ave. Rutledge, Pa. 19070 Guys I also want to add one thing and this is important. When these wheels are finished I will be selling them (1) one to a customer only. I am not going into any details right now but I figure this is probably my last run of wheels and I do not want to see someone stockpiling them. Duane
Duane, I have a core in which the spokes are a little flattened, but not bad. Is it of use/workable to you? Best regards, Steve.
Steve, Sorry but I can't/won't use it. I will not use any core that has any type of structural damage. Thanks anyway. Duane
Any more cores out there? I still have a 2 week window available before I have to cut this off. Duane
I have a nice one I can send you. I will be interested in purchasing a wheel when you get them done. Thanks, John
Duane - clear out your PM box and PM me with your address. Yours is "full" and I tried to send you a PM. Thanks, Patton
mprimosi, Thanks for the wheel. I have most of the wheels in now, just waiting on a few, and have sent out the checks for all the cores I have received. Black wedge's wheel got here today and the check will be written tomorrow. All the wheels I got in so far were good and are cleaning up fine. It looks pretty wild here, I have steering wheels all over the place.:laugh: Patton, I cleaned out my PMs. Duane
DL, Yeah I sure could build an obstacle course with them. When I cut off the plastic grips the pile ends up looking like a bunch of multi-colored snakes. The cats don't like that at all. Duane
