I'm familiar with this dealership. Based on the patina and originality, I don't doubt the authenticity, but once it's been restored, that's all gone. If the owner can produce a definitive piece of documentation, it'll be coming back home to the Sunshine State. Donny
Too bad there is not any original dealer order info in that dealer envelope o No: Sometimes the original dealer order forms are folded up inside there somewhere.. Might be worth having the owner take a second look... o No:
Guys, I called Mr. Keeton and he is a very nice guy to talk to. He does have the "Body Shop Inspection" sheet, from Fisher Body, but it is so aged that it's basically un-readable. He also checked the gas tank and there was no build sheet there. I checked the numbers on the trans and it comes up as a matching vin number "BS" Th400, so the car was originally a 455 non-stage automatic. I don't know if he has any other paperwork, but do know that he has talked to the original owner, who still lives in Florida. The car sounds like the real deal, but another call would be in order to verify it has the correct parts, etc. Duane
Donny, James or whomever is able to get pics, Please ask Micheal to take pictures of all the original paperwork if possible. It would be very intesting to see the original sales sheet or order form if it was in the packet. Mark
Legit or not this things a major rust bucket! You better put you eyeballs on her before you shell out 20KAlso theres no state title
Did you speak with the owner or see additional photos that were not posted here that show something really bad? For someone from NY to call a car a rust bucket means it would have to be really bad! From what I can see it doesn't look too rusty.
I agree Gary Car looks to be very solid rustfree car with only minor surface rust. Excellent restoration candidate!
The entire area around the rear window is rusted through and that's what you can see with the window molding still on. I'l bet when you remove the window molding you are going to find a lot more damage.
That radiator support cover seems to have quite a few rust holes, is that common? Can't imagine what some of the other hidden areas may look like :eek2:
I guess my idea of bad rust is different that other folks... This is the roof on our '70 Stage 1...now this is a rust issue.
I don't know. I've always lived within spitting distance of the Atlantic and never had any salt air rust issues with my cars.
So what would offer the guy? 12-15000? I think the spots on the radiator cover has trans or oils on it.
He turned down 15k & was pretty much set on 20k. He says the book he has said it was worth 28k. You might get him down to 17/18k.
Salt is still the culprit in my opinion. The sheet metal is going to be worse than it looks especially in any seam. The only other GSX I have seen that color was owned by the guy from Cal that had the 3 GSX cars on the cover of a mag. I have the mag somewhere.
2 in Mark's registry currently. A Stage 1 4speed and a 350 auto. Ertle made their '97 diecast Nat's car 71 Bittersweet GSX . I was recently watching video I filmed that year, Oddly enough I don't recall seeing it ?
