I've got a ZC coded block...I got it out of a 74 Century...It was my mom's uncle's car...He bought it new...I'm 99.999% sure it has never been replaced...But I can't find anything on a ZC code any where...The block has a 1241748 casting # at the top of the bellhousing area...

Is this in fact a 74 motor??? and if so, what compression ratio is it...

I don't have the heads right now...They are in the shop getting freshened up...So no casting #'s on it for now...As soon as I get them back, I'll post them as well...

    Thanks...

Look on the engine deck on the driver side. sometimes the codes are very hard to see.I have a 72 engine that has no visible code or numbers on the front of the engine.Take a look on the front of the block behind the p/s pump area. You should see numbers there. the last ones should match the vin of the car.:TU:

    Jim,
I have a 1974 Buick chassis manual. It has 2 350's listed. The 350-2 is XC and the 350-4 is XB. ZC may be a 75 motor. Maybe they put a 75 motor in it because it had a late production date. Check and see if you can find a production date code on the body # plate. It should be attached to the cowl, same as our GS's. In any case it's a 8.5:1 motor for sure. Hope that helps.

    ZC code indicates a '74 350-2V 150hp 8.5:1 compression. Hope this helps!

bignastytoyota...The ZC code is on the block...I meant that I could not find any info on the various websites about a ZC code and what year it would correspond to...

BTW, I'm closer to having a bignastytoyota of my own...I'm putting this 350 Buick in my 86 Toyota X-cab 4x4!!! hehehe...TA 350 intake, TA C110 cam, quiet mufflers and unsuspecting rice burners...They will look like this... :eek2: I will look like this... hehehe :TU:

Larry and txg, Thank you for the info...That's what I thought it would be...I was sure it was a '74 motor and that my mom's uncle had never had the motor replaced...

BTW, the car is long gone...Rust bucket...But the motor will live on!!! :beer
