Happy re-birthday YUK.... Awesome news. Makes me happy that I am an organ donor. This is wonderful news for your family. The family of the donor must also be congratulated as well as honored. Too many times I have seen death while doing my job.I always wonder if these people are donors as well. A couple years ago,I witnessed 6 tragic deaths on the roads. It kinda seems mean spirited, but I have learned to accept it and do my job. This truly makes me feel like life is really special. My friends relative also received a donor heart a few years ago and the made up signs in his room saying Happy Re-Birthday..It was just like he was born and they all celebrated it.He is still doing fine and on meds, but everyday is another miracle for him..How old are you if you don't mind me asking? I had my life changing experience last summer at the age of 45.A wake up call many do not get,but I was fortunate to receive. Not sure why I was picked out,but I am happy that I was the person. I have a different look in things.Been alot nicer to all, started caring more about myself alot better, and have a completely different perspective of GOD,life, and family, as well as friends. Here's to you and a speedy recovery and to your family as well as the donors family.:beer Merry Christmas and get well soon..
Fantastic! Best to Yuk! A little story: Back in the '50s there was a TV show called "THE MEDIC". It starred Richard Boone (Paladin from HAVE GUN WILL TRAVEL). At just about this time of year - I am guessing in 1955, they showed an actual film of open heart surgery on the show. It was a big deal - the first time that this sort of film had ever been shown on TV; there were stories about it in the newspapers. My cousin Hank and I sneaked upstairs during a Christmas party and watched it. Our parents were horrified and were afraid that we would have nightmares (we didn't). Now that kind of surgery is routine (for doctors, not the patient). We have come a long way, baby!
on 01 09 i will be 46. got diagnosed with the heart stuff when i was 39.they think my immune system damaged my heart trying to kill an everyday virus like we all have flying around in our systems. i might get out of the hospital as early as wednesday ... i told them i wanted to try to be at my work's christmas party. got my heart this wednesday ...that could be a pretty good turn around.

As a fellow 46-yeard old frisbee player, all I can say is WOW. That is the ultimate, as it were. Good news, and good luck! -- Steve
a buddy shipped me a nice purple HDX 165 that arrived at the hospital monday ... cant wait to toss it around. i am already minimally practicing nail delays. once my heart incision heals i can brush up on the ol 360 degree body rolls. DISC-ON!!
