Ok, this topic has always fascinated me so if your up to it to share I'm all ears. I'll share mine too.

For those who have not gone through this just ride the sideline. Near death is near death, which means COULD OF been dead and dead and came back NOT some bubble gum story of how you chose to stay in that night and something happened at your pre planned destination that you skipped on.

PTSD is real, it come and grips you. Stays with you for some years, leaves, comes back, leaves again but stains you some lol.

    So....

Ronnie, I could/should write a book about my near death experiences.
From an early age people said: "God must have plans for you, because he keeps protecting you!"

I can't go into all the details, not enough time...

Got run over by a farm tractor, dad was driving when I fell forward while standing on the axle beside the seat. Tractor ran over both legs at the thigh, on a hard-packed gravel road.

Was working under my first car when it rolled off the ramps dragging me
under it for 100' until it hit a tree in the yard and stopped.
Left half of my forehead on the asphalt.

Got stung in the back of my throat by 2 yellow jackets after they tried to finish the Mountain Dew I had started. Couldn't breathe...couldn't swallow....couldn't cough...thought I was a goner! Ambulance crew gave me epinephrine just in time.

Turned over a loaded 18 wheeler on a highway ramp, on the drivers side. Guard rail missed my head by an inch or two after it ripped thru the fiberglass roof.

    Got crushed under a trailer...

Turned over a 10 wheel dump truck...

Got hit in the temple with a golf club on a full swing...

Fell thru a ceiling on a demo job while cutting beams with a chain saw.
The beams above me, not the ones I was standing on!
The running saw ended up 6" from my face...

There are many more but you get the idea.

My wife accused my parents of withholding information after we got married.
She thought they could have warned her about what she was in for, with me. ;)

I'm actually a little worried because nothing has happened in about 8 years, but I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it. :)

    CONSTANTLY!!
    I have un-fixable back problems!
Was on heavy narcotics for about 15 years, decided to go oxycodone free back in November. Pain meds never did take the pain away but they did make it more manageable. Only OTC, massage, acupuncture, aroma therapy, and less activity now.

I flatlined on an operating table during a simply procedure in 2010. Dr said it was a 'perfect storm' of conditions, tho I suspect it was over-anesthetization. He said I was out less than a minute. Stayed in hospital for 3 days for tests/observations- no damage or condition found. No 'out of body' or 'moving toward the light' experience. No after effects whatsoever. If they hadn't told me what happened, I wouldn't have known.

I kind of wish I had not opened this thread. Had 1 you should be dead. (kind of funny), a couple of could have died if I didn't get to the ER within 24 hours, and 1 darn near died in the hospital which is the one that is uncomfortable to think about. Knowing you are close to death and you may be taking your last breath and may never open your eyes again can be traumatic. I will watch the thread and may expand later.

    Philip,
Would you be offended if I took out a small life insurance policy on you (just a small one, enough to buy a real 4 speed X & 4sp Stage convertible?)
Damn son! And I thought I had a bunch of “war” stories!
We need to sit down and talk sometime but like in a cleared field devoid of power tools, farming equipment, pretty much ANYTHING lol
Seriously though, glad you are still here with us brother : )

Was drag racing a 225 Buick with a Wildcat Buick that was a convertible in the rain no less I was passenger, no seat belts we went up a small hill with a curve at the end of road, the light was red went thru the intersection sideways took out a 6-10 inch tree out of the ground when we hit it with the left front fender and tire and my door hit the next tree, the top of the tree was at his door.

We had to have been going 80 at the time the car was totaled and there wasn't a scratch on us. Knocked every piece of bondo out of the car. If the car was 2 more feet the other way the tree would have been at the door of my buddy the driver, we were very lucky.

If the same thing happened with todays cars we would have been gone for sure but that old Wildcat was a heavy beast.

Another one I was going to the state store with my brother to get a bottle and the store was going to close in about 10 minutes, we got on the highway and when we got to the ramp to go south I knew we were going took fast for it and I told my brother to slow down and the quote he made which went with him for years was this...

"The Radials will hang" Yeah right we went straight and then when the front end caught up with the speed we went sideways and my door was heading straight for the guardrail end then all of a sudden we spun around 180 more and stopped. There was a Ambulance driver right behind us and they got out and asked us if we were ok and we said yes and they said that was some good driving lol we went on to the state store and got that bottle. That was in about 1980 with a 71 Nova.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Driving home at about 1am, after closing my pizza shop for the night, I saw something tan, in my peripheral vision, coming at the driver side of my '87 Cavalier RS. I thought, "Deer" and hit the brakes. As soon as I did, it was like I hit a brick wall. My car stopped and I had the windshield down on my left hand, I was covered with glass and blood, and I had a knot on my forehead from the rear view mirror. I wasn't sure what had happened. I unbuckled my seatbelt and tried to exit the driver door, after hitting the 4-ways. Something was blocking it from the inside, so I climbed over the console and out the other door. It was then, as I called 911, that what had hit me was a very large auburn/black horse. It was in the road over 10 yards behind my car. I was doing about 50 when I hit the brakes, so the horse must have been at full gallop. The tan 'thing' that I had first seen, was a smaller horse. I told the 911 operator what had happened and, of course, they asked if I was okay. I told them I had a knot on my forehead and was covered with blood. I also told them that I wasn't carrying and was concerned that the horse may be suffering, and needed to be put down if necessary. Meanwhile, the tan horse came near me and I calmed hit down.
A young guy stopped, checked on me and gave me a towel. As the county Sheriff arrived, he said he had to go. I thanked him and he left quickly. The EMTs arrived at the same time. They were walking up from behind the car at the same time the Sheriff was walking toward the front. I walked back around the front of the car which now was well lighted up by the Sheriff car. That's when we all saw, at the same time, the reason I could not exit the driver door. The horse must have tried jumping over my car. His leg had come through the windshield between the steering wheel and the door panel/seat. It had been severed and was still there. The first EMT said the 95% of this type of accident were fatalities. The Sheriff said the was true. The other EMT said, "Its not your time tonight." I called my wife and she drove there. She was shocked, at first, seeing me wrapped in a plastic cover the EMTs gave me, until I showed her and the EMTs told her I was okay (other than being batshitcrazy) , of which she already was quite aware.
There was very little damage to the front of the Cavalier that I had paid a whopping $400 for 9 years prior. The roof was down to the steering wheel in front. The horse was so heavy that the C pillar was pushed down and buckled the quarter panel. The glass that I was covered with was the sunroof exploding. I had the car delivered to our home, which, by the way, I was only 2 miles from when the accident occurred. The interior was all glass and horse blood. I tarped it and refused to uncover it until the wrecker came to pick it up. I had, over the 9 years, invested about $2,000 in the car. The insurance company (I keep, at least, comp on even my beaters) gave me $1,060.
From the knot on my forehead, I got a couple black eyes for about a week.

    Ok my turn..
Ill bipass all the close calls and minor boo boos.

At 8 my story starts. So I went to spend the night at my big cousins house. He was my favotite cousin at the time. They are 3 brothers all older then me at the time I was 8 and they were 12, 17, 22. Me and the 12 year old were tight and his brother who was 17 lived there to (he was a state champ westler and later became a seargent for the marines in iraq and Afghanistan when the war popped of. Now thier Dad (no blood relation) was a big beer drinker and a big mean brute.
So when I first got there in the day me and my cousin were doing little kid things like playing, exploring,....
My aunt to my cousin to go and hide some beer so my uncle wouldn't get that drunk. We went into there roon and he had pallet full of beer that was 4 feet tall. We hid some then my cousin asked if i wanted to see his dad gun. At first i was scared but I shot my first gun at 7 so I was more scared of the situatuon. He reasured me and he told me we should keep one bullet each from his dad revolver. It was loaded all up. He took one then he gave the gun to me, then I took one, but not the adjacent bullet.
We left, time passed and day turned to night. My uncle came home with his friends and got real drunk. I've never been around drunks at that age. He came in and started talking all funny and faling from his drunkedness. I laughed becasue it was funny to me. He ordered me to shut up but i couldent. He fell some more and keep telling me to stop tripping him. He got up from one fall took out his gun pointed it my face and pulled the trigger. I saw the revolver spin one time after he pulled the trigger. My wrestler cousin came in and laid his dad out. I nevered moved. The gun was taken by my cousin and he went to go check if it was loaded. It was but missing two bullets, the bullets me and my 12 year old cousin took out.

I never told my mom until i was 18. Me and my aunt and cousins havea a big bond because of that. They divorced later and when I was 21 and deep in the streets and i seen him. I walked up to him and look him in his eye during his granddaughter sweet 16 and told him "remeber me bi!$#, im the kid you almost killed. He got pale, said no but his eyes said yes. He left the party early.

    More to come

Nov 18, 2018 in broad daylight at 3pm a moron blew threw a stop sign and tboned the car I was driving with my wife and 6 month old. Me and my wife were ejected and her car rolled in a concrete ravine. My 6 month old was ok, my wife was bruised up bad, but I had major injuries that should have killed me. 3 of those injuries should have killed me. List of injuries include all ribs on left side broken, collapsed left lung, fluid in lungs on both sides, ruptured spleen, aortic artery tear (kills most people in 48 hrs and most die before emt arrives. I survived 72hrs), fractured pelvis, unrecognizable right elbow (my hand was on the shifter when dip shot tboned the drivers door), and a massive tear on my scalp. I was in a coma for 2 weeks, and was on life support. I still am recovering with breathing difficulties, and limited use of my elbow. The only memory I have of the accident is being in a glowing light with no sense of up, down, or barriers and a man about 6ft 2 with slight facial hair, medium complexion, in a Roman style gown walk up out of the glow and said with a neutral voice and body language “It’s not your time. You have to go back”.

BTW my wife’s car was a 1991 Geo Storm and dip **** was driving a 2008 Ford Freestyle. If we were wearing the seat belts we both would be dead %100

19 I got shot at with my friend. I was over his house and we weren't the nicest guys. It was night time and a truck pulled up to the house. Old guys in there 40's popped out. They exchange words with my friend who was 15 feet away from me. I was standing by the wall by the front door. The words went south and the guns came out. My friend and I did not have any guns but inside the house was a friend with a 40 glock. These guys unloaded their revolvers on us. I'll never forget the fire flame that came from there barrels as they shot. I seen my friend in front of me froze with fear, a bullet flew by my neck and hit the wall behind me throwing a bunch of debris/shrapnel on my next, I hit the floor and crawled to the door then opened it. As this was happening I heard another gun. It was deep sounding, automatic and doing damage. What I heard was my other friend who was inside. What he did was run to the backyard, creeped to the side gate and unloaded his 40 on them. The damage I heard was all their windows braking on their truck. They drove off, none of us were hit.

A day later I brought my shotgun single shot that seemed 8 feet tall lol over to his house because I knew his house would need an extra gun. Later that night the cops came and raided his house. He went to jail and never said the gun was mine. He got out a year later and his mom killed him. His murder was ruled a accident and that's that.

When I was 21 I was driving to my girlfriends house with all the windows down music playing like a cool guy. I remember the car in front of me was driving to slow for me on a single lane side street. So I passed him up, on coming was a car about 2 blocks away, far. When me and this on coming car cross paths, him going west and me going east. BANG!!! I could not hear anymore, a strong force came in from my driver's window out my passenger. I pulled over almost crashed and realized I was just shot at. AGAIN. I was so mad I turned the car around to catch up with him. Immediately I realized I didn't have a gun. So I went to my girlfriend's house half deaf trying to explain. Her parents didn't like me much.

A couple days later in the news some guy was being charged for around 30 attempted murders for doing this style random shooting while driving at other car. People are crazy. He didn't even no me. I often think if I would have never passed the other car would this man have shot at me.

I’ve had a few while driving but the closest might have been one time while deer hunting. I know what a rifled shotgun slug sounds like as it whizzes by your head. I was at the other end of a grove when some people from our hunting party scared up some deer and just started shooting. We didn’t hunt with them after that.

I relate to to JayZee story on not as serious of a story

I was 17 driving a 66 Dodge 4dr Cornet and I got t boned by a full size ford truck, They estimated he was doing 50 mph when he hit my drivers door.
My first memory was two days later in intensive care serious condition, I spent two weeks in hospital. I suffered a broken jaw in two places, missing teeth ,left side broken ribs, internal bleeding, ruptured spleen which was removed.
Weeks recovering and 40 years later now if you look at my face you can see my jaw line differs on the left side and a slight sideways spine has a curve in the middle,
They told my parents at the time if I had a seat belt on it would have killed me as the impact penetrated the car so far the steering column was bent to the passenger side.
It took me 20 years for me to ever wear one after that.
But few years after starting to wear one I walked away from a roll over jeep wreck with minor injuries by having one on which I also believed was a brush with death.

Got hit in the throat by a 95 MPH baseball my son hit off of a Jugs machine.

Hit so hard that I was stunned - could not swallow or talk.

The ER doctor said that if the ball hit 1/2" over, I would have been killed instantly.

My voice took 3 months to return to normal.

Do out of body experiences count? Happened to me at age 10 from a bad case of sun poisoning. I ran a super high fever, passed out a few times and eventually watched my body from above while my Mother tended to it, then I went on a short trip where I visited the place where we go when we pass. It was a very comfortable and caring place where I was given a choice and allowed to come back. I returned to the place where I watched my body from above for a few moments, then returned to my body. The next day I told my Mother what happened and it rattled her pretty badly.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

This happened as we were driving to our Daughter's home. We had just turned the corner on to her road when I heard a loud crack, like a lightning strike. Something 'bumped' our S-10 Blazer so I slammed the brakes. As soon as I did, a very large limb crashed down across our windshield. If I hadn't reacted quickly, the limb could have hit my wife in the head. Neighbors came out to check on use. We had glass on us, but we were okay. The neighbors also informed us that the tree had been dead for around 5 years. The large limb dropped straight down just as we passed under it.
My wife had just, the last week, bought the Blazer for me in an attempt to get me to sell my tRusty '92 Plymouth (still have it). Insurance paid us.

This is more of an "Honorable Mention Darwin Awards" story:
was 16 working at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, Va. The original pool had a big slope behind it down to the lake. Real steep -- too steep to push mow. So we used this big old dinosaur push mover with an old pool line tied to the body. Stood at the top of the hill and lowered it down, pulled it back up,repeat 100 times until the whole stupid hill was mowed.
So one day I'm mowing the hill, keep throwing the excess line over my shoulder as I pull the mower up. I notice I had somehow looped it around my neck. Think nothing of it. Then towards the end I pull the mower clear of the top of the hill, but it rolls too far and over the line behind it. It starts sucking the line in in a blur, and the mower dies right as all the slack is eaten up and the line starts to tighten around my neck. My neck was a little scratched, and it took a bit to get the line out of the mower, but it coulda been worse. Woulda been a weird crime scene.
