With the prices of used 1112016 Stage 1 distributors topping 800.00, someone deceided to restamp them. Not sure about the lines running around the base :puzzled: Maybe not the absolute best job, but Im sure they're going to get better.

    Whats everyone's thoughts on this?

Saw that last nite....if you think this is beginning of restamping....you have not been around the Corvette hobby......all of this restamping issues started with them in the 80s when Vette prices were going ballistic.

If musclecar prices stay where they are or go higher...there are going to be some Rembrandts of the musclecar business making some very good money.

I agree the groove don't belong there but maybe he had a bad casting or a dull bit in the lathe?????

That looks like a 400/430 distrib. which had no lines.

He's certainly no Rembrandt  but you have to give the guy credit. It was a good attempt. As George said, as the prices go higher, you'r going to see some quality restamps surfacing.

The Corvette guys have gotten so good at restamps the concours judges cant tell the difference anymore.

Will the real 1112016 please step forward...

Notice the stamp font on mine. For some reason, the numbers are stamped on the thick side area, not the thin areas that they're usually stamped. When installed, the casting number is facing the intake.

Didn't know you could get the housings bare....must have been a rare purchase since the distributors will last for 20-30 years with no problems.
