22 inchs of rain in 72 hours!

We are getting hammered here on Floridas West Coast. I have drained my pool at least 3 times every day since July 25th. Horrible driving conditions. Serious D A N G E R O U S flooding. Pot holes and roads being sucked into the earth... Enuf already. Sheeeesh. :Dou:

IF I COULD.... I would push this STATIONARY ~ ie: NON MOVING, low pressure subtropical weather pattern to all our friends out west... I feel for you all dealing with wildfires and drought...

This link shows just one area in the TAMPA BAY region..: :eek2:

We could use some up in NY. No where near as bad as the west coast, but in my area we usually get 16 inches in the April-July time frame. We have gotten 7-8. Garden is hurting. On a well, so have to use it judiciously.

I hear ya' Wheelz! I flew into The Villages to visit my Mom & Sis for a week and it has rained every day :( We did get a little time out on Lake Harris and made a run over to Daytona for some steamed blue crabs, but man, rain rain rain!

We've been getting it up here too. The edges of that system keep swinging over us. Its predicted to drift our way in the near future. Wife and had planned a beach vaca on Treasure Island last week and didnt go due to the forecast.

I wouldn't mind a little of that rain here either. What used to be our lawn is now a nice sandy color.

This is a V E R Y UNUSUAL weather pattern we are experiencing... havent seen the likes of flooding anywhere near this level since I've lived here... (1971) ugh. :ball:

We are starving for rain. Our lakes are all but dried up. our forest is desperate for water. and the wildlife is dying from thirst.
    "Need" is an understatement.

I feel for you Wheelz! My mom used to live in New Port Richey and one summer (1975) me and a buddy of mine went to visit her during our summer break. We got caught in several storms in the Clearwater/Tampa Bay area. Once going over the bridge to Tampa Bay to go see the Tampa Bay Rowdies play. Remember them? Anyway, I never saw so much rain fall in such a short period of time! Roads turned into rivers...

We are pretty much familiar with torrential sub tropic downpours... its these 3 and 4 times a day ALL WEEK LONG gully washer downpours that really flood our area... Our home is just 11 feet above sea level and 600 feet from the intercoastal waterway...... and all the rain runoff heads down to the low lying areas... our 18,000 gallon pool has turned into a 7 acre swamp.
    Major ugh.

So exactly where do you think I got this emoticon! :Brow:

After all, Google does have an image search, we have a "moral" sic. obligation to put it some sort of "useful" use . . . . [IMG]

Yup, somebody at the water fountain getting hydrated big time, while kids waited in line. Here in sunny SoCal, water is still a premium, 50 years after I was in grade school.

We'll take the rain around here, I am in Lake County, CA; the Rocky fire is at the other end of Clear Lake, about 30 miles from here. My dad (94 years old) lives is a couple of miles from where the residents have been put on alert that they may have to evacuate. We would be happy with an increase in humidity and a lowering of temperatures. The landscape around here is extremely flammable from years of drought and some rain would be an answer to many prayers......
