.... that I got scared and decided to get a fire extinguisher for my GS. :)

I know, I went a little overboard with the size, But I didn't want to go with the smaller powder units due to the mess they leave.
I used existing holes in the trunk and some left over material to attach the bracket, so that the extinguisher rests on the spare tire.

It needs to be more readily assessable in an emergency. Seconds count & when your in a a panic how many times will you drop the trunk keys???
Just my thoughts on the subject.

At car shows my extinguisher rests on the ground behind the left front tire of the car.

I have a fire extinguisher (ABC) in EVERY vehicle that I own. Many years ago (teens), I had a carb backfire with the filter housing off, and the car was running (DUH).m It kept fueling the fire, and I had no extinguisher at the time. Fortunately some kind stranger stopped and helped me. I was in front of the town fire department...

    Won't happen - I am a cool dude :)
Seriously, you are right. However there is no way in hell to fit this sucker inside the car. So I opted for the second best solution: Better having one in a suboptimal spot, than not having one at all.

When not at a car show, my extinguisher rests on the floor in the rear seat. Otherwise in the trunk

I'm stupid, or lucky, or extremely careful with my cars. I don't have a fire extinguisher in any of my cars. But if I did it would be something like this:

I worked for a car company way back and was doing the vehicle test car driver training. All cars had a small fire extinguisher in them. The trainer explained how to grab the extinguisher pull the pin and pull the trigger all while running as far away as possible.o_O:)

I learned a lesson from this story, I'll try to keep it short. Many years back my friend wanted to restore his 1973 De Tomaso Pantera. Of course I did all the body and paint and he finished it up with the main assembly. Well it's complete and absolutely stunning. I get the car running, is got an updated MSD ignition and a hot 351 cid to boot that he built. Me, not knowing much of Lucas wiring at the time. Well, it's time for the first car show an all Ford show at that, the wife, me and my 6 year old son go cruising down about 40 minutes away. As I get out of the car, wife and kid still in there trying to get out, the boy says "dad, there's a fire". I look around the horizon can't see anything smoking and I say to him "where you see the fire" there! and points to the distributor cap which is right behind the rear glass. Oh crap! I realizing there is no extinguisher in the car, a freshly restored expensive car. Thank God for friends at the show. Never again do I leave my shop with out a fire extinguisher in any car. I also had to replace my underwear afterwards!

Same for my Model T - except there is no trunk.
