As mentioned before, I do some work for a mate's TV show, www.onthewater.com.au Today, I was asked to help film V8 Jetsprint Boats. This hairbrained sport was dreamed up in New Zealand, the home of boredom, therefore the home of extreme sports! Anyway, I got to have a ride in one with world champion (and SUPER idiot with mucho grande cojones!) Slade Stanley. 400ci chev in a boat you might take out duck hunting! This is the actual run I was on, camera mounted to the roll cage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5PzAYDeVHk It was a championship points run, so no holding back. This rush will be hard to top. Two runs later, a boat flipped and landed on the island and caught fire. We had the footage and it made it onto the national news tonight! Driver was trapped and badly burnt, as fire crews had to cross the "river" to get to him. When I get the footage of that, I'll post it. Pretty scary. Now, where do I find a little tinny to stick my Buick motor in..... :bglasses: :bglasses: :bglasses: :bglasses: :bglasses: :bglasses: :bglasses:
I first saw those on TV quite a few years ago and always thought they were very cool. They race them here in the US as well. I'd love to have one. :TU:
don't worry I won't. I'm not worried about the fire risk as that applies to all motorsports I can think of. Last time I checked they only had one track in the US and it was way to far for me to travel to. Someday I will get back into circle track dirt racing. I watched the video and it sounded like he never let off the gas. I bet you'll never for get that. How was your time?
On the tacho, he showed me afterwards where he backed off.....from 6500rpm to 6000rpm. A lazy 105 mph! Around 46 secs, his winning run was 44.6
There is a navigator riding with you. And he or she is pointing in your line of vision which way to go.
Yeah, the navigator points the direction. Pretty hectic. I was in the navigators seat and was told to sit still and keep my hands folded on my chest! Guess he knew the way.
