when I told him it's a 340 not a 300 he clinched on the mud pack.

Love that body style. When I go for a walk in the morning, there is a '48 Chevy 3100 long bed (9'!) that I walk past and admire. I met the guy that owns it, chatted a little. Next thing you know, he and the truck are gone. Guess he moved. I would have loved to have that truck. 9 foot bed stepside, looks like it just came off an Indian reservation. Too cool. Guess I'll have to stick with my '70 Longhorn Fleetside that I got for free.

I like it! Nice looking truck. My father helped a fella back in the 70's yank a 352 out of an old Ford truck and drop in a Buick V8, he couldnt recall what engine but he said the round bell of the FE Ford was damn close to the Buick casting and didnt require much modification to work. The truck had 4spd too. It was nicknamed Buford after that and it ran for many yrs.

My father also had a 54 Chevy truck 3100 with the straight6/4spd and the 9' stepside bed. He let me drive it to school on occasion. Not very fast but cool to drive.
