I disassembled a 67 long console with tach on Thursday.
Completely took it apart to have it chromed.
Came in Friday morning, the guts of the tach are nowhere to be found.

    Sigh.

I put that away in a good place so it won't get damaged, I guess.

It will be found someday, but damnit.

Heck. I can't find an almost new aluminum 350 Buick intake manifold I purchased from a member on here. An intake manifold? Right.

The CRS virus outbreak is getting worse. Maybe the Govt can come up with a vaccine. :p:p:p

I spend 80% of my time trying to find what I had in my hand just 5 minutes ago or put in a "special place"... More often than not it's hidden in plain sight... but only days that end in "Y"...

I can lose something within 1 minute of touching it. Very common for me to put down a wrench or other tool to do something else for a minute and then be at a complete loss to where I put the tool down. I have to spend some time searching for the tool. Worst case, the tool doesn't turn up until a couple of days later. This usually happens at least once on a big project.

I have lost things that are still in my hand but I was looking in the other hand. It's tough.

I still haven't found the clutch return spring that I took of my 350 car. I wound up buying another because it was too cheap to waste more time looking for it. That was 8 months ago.

At least it's not an expensive or rare part...... oh wait, factory knee knocker tach, yeah. Still haven't found it.

Where ever it is, I'm sure it is safe.

While on the road trip with my Buick recently, as I was getting out of the car I dropped my car keys perfectly in a bag I was holding, into a box, and into the slice of leftover cheesecake that was in the box (which accounts for how silent it was) . . . After an hour of searching the next morning I finally have up and paid a mobile locksmith $250 to recode me a new key (required taking the lock cylinder out of the column). Of course 30min after he leaves we find the keys lodged in the slice of cheesecake, guess all that searching made me hungry!

Definitely the weirdest place to lose your keys

Got my GN jacked up in the driveway to replace the intercooler intake. New one is around the house somewhere, but I'll be damned if I find it. And that's a pretty good size item.

My latest loss is the TV remote. Been looking for 3 days. I know it's within a 12 square foot radius ( I think), but alas, no dice.
Not only do I spend hours searching for parts that I put in a safe place, but I forget buying parts. I usually find a forgotten treasure in my searching for other lost stuff.

I’m bad to find something I haven’t lost yet, and think to myself ‘I better put this in a safer place’. When later I need that item, I can remember where I took it from, but not the safe place I moved it TO!
