My one boss said he was going to bring in a chicken or two. He said the other day he went out to feed them and one had chased down a mouse and gulped it right down. I would of never thought a chicken would eat a mouse.

I have 2 "domesticated" cats - both had been outside at one time but are sweet as pie. Nothing wild about them. One has caught 2 mice in the 5 years at this house. You can tell when she's stalking one, too. It might take her a week or two but she'll get it. She just doesn't eat it. Leaves it for us to find. (yuck!)

But I imagine there are some cats that can't be bothered, too. Just like folks - some are hunters and some aren't.

    Maybe we're just lucky.

And if your boss brings in chickens - who gets to clean up after the chickens??

He will have to. He's the one that got rid of the cats in the barn that use to take care of the mice.

Have you ever tried a couple of those sonic repellers? They plug into an outlet & send sonic waves through the wires & it drives the little buggers crazy.
Says it won't harm domestic animals.
They are not real expensive, maybe you can get the boss to pay for a couple, that way you won't have to clean up after the chickens

You can get them at any Ace, Menards, Lowes, ect.

My mice must be wearing ear plugs....I bought one of those sonic things and it made no difference to them! Cats are the best!

    Speaking of Chickens...
I was at my parents house working under the Buick and chatting with my Dad. I hear a strange noise and 4 Chickens are heading straight for me. This is in a nice suburb, not the boonies. You have a new perspective on Chickens when your heads on the ground. All of a sudden they seem to be nothing but beaks, talons and stupidity. I was under the car thinking I've got one foot one ratchet and 4 Chickens to kill.

My Dad nearly laughed himself into a coughing fit before he chased them away. He'd been watching them through our whole conversation waiting for me to notice.

Back on topic. I had mice that had built a home in my motorcycles exhaust. When I started the bike in the spring the nest shot out about 12 feet. Styrofoam plugs went in the next winter.
