Geez, Erik, that's pretty devastating! Your pride in you car was/is extremely evident. Any plans to get another and start again? Or is the mourning period still in full swing to even consider those kinds of thoughts? I feel bad for you, bud.
We have got to find you that Park Avenue! :TU: Those wiring harness fires under the dash can go up quick! If that's what caused it. I had a '73 Pontiac Grand Ville about 25 years ago. The stop light fuse kept blowing on a regular basis. I couldn't find the cause, so I wrapped tin foil around the fuse. I know, I know. Stupid idea. Worked for a few days until one time I came up to a stop light. Smoke poured out from under the dash! I shut it down and got out the fire extinguisher which I have made a habit of carrying in all my cars. Had it towed home and later pulled the dashboard out. Nearly the whole wiring harness was void of insulation! Crispy! All in a matter of seconds. Ended up selling it to a guy at a local scrap yard who was into demo derbys.

Was the cigarette lighter still connected to the electrical circuit? If so, this is a prime suspect. I really hate this happened to you. No wonder you liked the Kruger Park Electra so much.
Dear Erik and V-8 Buick lovers, Certainly doesn't help, but my sympathies as well. Sure is a tough break. Sincerely, Edouard
 THAT MAKES ME SICK! Sorry Eric. I was driving a 69 Dodge Dart many years ago that went up like that. Smoke from the dash them poof. Freaky.
My sincere condolences Erik; - I know how you must feel. It always sucks when you lose your pride and joy. I had an Invicta that started to smolder as I was driving it on the highway, (it was the cigarette lighter,) and as I was reaching under the dash pulling out smoldering hot wires and choking on smoke, I was looking for a place to pull over. I managed to stop the car and get out before it burned. That taste and smell of that wire smoke stayed with me for months. Here's hoping you get something nice to replace it. I guess in retrospect one should have picked up those 225s in Lethbridge last year...at least you can have some fun looking again! Good Luck in your search!
I just heard that the car will be used in a banger race  I will try to attend that event and take loads of photos :TU:
Erik, I'm closeby and never heard that this happened to your car, was a great car and a nice drive with you behind the wheel or course! You have my sympathies as well, and hope you will find a nice ride again. Did you sell the car to those banger boys complete? Or do you still have the engine and trans, and the parts that were still salvageable? Greetz Robert Noeken
Erik, I know where you can get the MOST STOCK and LOWEST MILEAGE '69 Riviera on the planet. Even all the hoses and belts are still factory original. I will be posting pics in a new thread probably tomorrow documenting the revival process as I awake it from its 37 YEARS of sleep. Yup, it was last run in 1975! ---------- Post added at 07:51 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:51 AM ---------- Oh, and sorry for your loss.
