    Hello All!
I found this site a couple of weeks ago, and just had to join. This summer I was fortunate enough to come across a '71 Skylark Custom with just over 35,000 miles on it, and had to have it. According to the history provided by the previous owner (and the documentation to back it up), this car was owned by a little old lady who bought it new in Oklahoma, then moved down to Houston. He purchased it from her estate, took off the vinyl top (to get rid of the rust below the back window), repainted it the original lime mist, replaced the 2 barrel with a 4, replaced the wheels, replaced the front bumper (apparently that little old lady dinged it pretty good) and added dual exhaust. Granted, it's not a GS, but the price was right. So far, I've installed new shocks and bushings, replaced the AM with FM stereo, added a CD changer, had the AC repaired (only got to enjoy it for one day before the compressor froze up), and am going to replace the idiot lights with a rally guage this turkey day weekend. Unfortunately, I also had to have the rear main seal replaced. I would like to keep it as original as I can, but some things just gotta change (I can listen to oldies on AM only so long)
I really enjoy this car. I used to have a '37 special sitting in my drive way waiting for me to get to work on it, but I came to the realization that restoring it was more than I could handle (or afford), so I sold it 2 years ago.
I look forward to asking your advice, and am happy that I have found a forum with such like minded individuals.

Anybody out there have a passenger mirror they want to get rid of?

Welcome to the site! Im pretty new to Buicks as well ( got my first one 6 months ago ) but this is the last place you'll ever have to look to find people who know the answer to just about anything you can come up with.

    Welcome home!!!

My other half is complaining that I'm spending too much time on the computer since I found this site. I'll try to get them up tommorrow evening.:spank:

    Wayne,
It does seem like an awful lot of posts here are from TX, but I've noticed quite a few from the northeast and midwest. too.
No, I wish I did live in Austin, but not much work for what I do there (CAD jockey). I think I could probably get a job at 3M if the ecomomy was better. As it is, we have a nice old house in San Antonio, and I have only a 70 mile (round trip) commute to work. I can't complain (too much).
Thank's for the offer af assistance. I might take you up on it some day. It's a nice drive to Austin, as long as you avoid 35.

Yeam there are alot of Texans in here. Us southerners tend to take a liking to the great american muscle cars. Texas is without a doubt the roudiest and best state in the US. Texas probably has more muscle cars than any other state. And that's what makes me proud to live here. If i didn't live in Texas, i never would have gotten to sit behind my uncle's 11 second Nailhead.
