I changed the plugs in my 69 today. When they were removed some of the electrodes were tinted yellow the remainder had a nice gray color to them. The plugs have been in the motor for so long I forgot the last time I changed them. Usually I use AC Delco plugs r43ts for some reason I put Champions in. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there some additive in the gasoline causing this?
:bglasses: hmmmm...looks like maybe lead lead fouling? Are you using any additives....fuel or oil?? or lucky enough to have your own stash of the good 'ole premium with lead?? :Brow: Mark
hmmmm..ok...hmmmm:idea2: "splash fouled" then......did you recently take 'er out and run the chit outta it? like burn the carbon off so to speak? lol old deposits from lots of stop n go kinda traffic can "splash" onto the insulator and leave yellowish deposits... I live no where near NC....so have no idea what kinda crap the refiners are adding to the fuel where ya'll live.. I'm still convinced it likes look an additive deposit of some type.... Mark
Yellow deposits like that are sometimes caused by sulfur in the gas. Do you ever smell rotten egg smell after stepping on the gas? Check around and see if any local gas stations are promoting "low-sulfur" gas, maybe that will help.
