I just returned today from the Year One Bristol Bash. I participated in the Stock Appearing F.A.S.T. race.

    WOW! What an event.

Congratulations to YEAR ONE. They put on an amazing event, their second annual Y1 Bristol Bash! I can not say enough good things about this event and Y1.

I saw very few Buick guys at the event this year, all I can say is you Missed it! This is without doubt the finest racer/family oriented event that I have ever participated in. The YEAR ONE Bristol Bash has something for every one. Im not kidding. Full tilt car show with a $5000.00 grand prize, multiple drag race classes for street legal cars. Heads-up drag racing for the F.A.S.T. (Factory appearing stock tire) class. Autocross, Dyno challenge and probably more that I didnt get to see! Then there is everything for your family to participate in. Let me just list some of the attractions that I saw..

Kids playground, about 6 huge inflatable kids rides (slides, tunnels, forts/house, bouncing room) Then there is the rock climbing wall. NASCAR simulator, slot car racing, Oh did I forget to mention a huge (approx 60x150) ice skating rink. Yes, ice skating. Year One supplies the skates! I also saw balloon tired tricycles for kids to ride on the ice with. How about Remote control race cars. Lets see there was face panting, clowns, T-shirt giveaways being shot out of a cannon in to the grand stands. Dont let me forget the manicures for the ladies and shuttle buses to nearby shopping malls all day. And it was all complementary, yes all FREE! Anyone that knows me can tell you that I dont get overly excited easily. This event IS that GOOD!

Year One associates are top notch, They are all super friendly and helpful. Im sorry if this sounds like a paid advertisement (it isnt) Its just that I want to let everyone know about what a great event this is. I almost forget, They had exhibition cars for your enjoyment, 2 nostalgic nitro funny cars (Jungle Jims car was one) a jet car, Pat Musi was there with 2 pro mod cars, Arnie Beswick was there with about 4 nostalgia cars, and a Sox and Martin super stock car. There was so much I cant remember it all. Oh yeah they had fire works too!

Put this event on your calendar as a must attend family vacation for next year. Visit the YEAR ONE web site at www.yearone.com for additional information.

Trust me; You dont want to miss this one.

We were at the Year One event also, it was awesome  ! Greg forgot to mention that there were at least 6 magazine feature cars running around, Car Craft was there with 5 cars competing in their Real Street Challange, GMHighTech mag was there covering the event, etc, etc. For $40 I got a weekend race pass which allowed me to drag race and autocross race, not to mention all of the free stuff you could do. This event was the least expensive I've ever been to. We ran the Muscle on the Mountain class and won with the GN (small turn out in my class :pp ). They took a bunch of pictures of the car and me with my plaque and they may be used in next years advertisements. This was a great event and we will definatley be going back next year!

We were also at the Bash! What a GREAT time!! We were showing our 70 GS Conv. I was dissapointed to see that there were only 2 cars in the 65 to 70 Skylark class. I know that there are more nice Buicks in that area of the country. Was also dissapointed to se that at the Year One tents there was not a BUICK displayed anywhere!! Seems to me that Year One is not intrested in promoting their Buick catalogs! Every other catalog was represented.

    Keith,
I have not raced with slicks on my car for about 3 years. I have tailored the drive train and suspension to try and optimize performance on stock tires.

I would have to make a few changes and do some testing to run efficiently with slicks.

    Hey guys!

We would have had a Buick parked at the tent, but our representitive car was busy making low 10 second passes:grin:

Thanks to everyone for participating, I'm sure next year will be even better!:TU:

That sounds about right. Race the Buick and park the Chevelles and Camaros. All they're good for is car shows anyway. Elementary.:TU:
