After recently cahngin my oil, I noticed a "gouge" along part of the mating surface where the filter's gasket seats. I am using a NAPA Gold filter and it seems to have more of a narrower gasket than I'm used to seeing. A wider gasket would cover the area giving me a good seal as I had last time. Anyone had this problem? Or know of a wider gasket on a different(NOT FRAM) filter. Maybe it was just this one?

Also how much oil does the pump housing and filter hold as meybe I'll just spin' er off and take it back for them to look at.

Is the gouge on the filter seal surface or on the filter adapter on the motor?

The adaptor bolted to the block. Sorry for the confusion. I think maybe this particular filter was made w/ a "narrower" rubber gasket (by mistake:confused: )as the older filters covered a wider area and had no leak
