    Hi,

I have one, convertible 4 speed numbers matching GS with dual quads, I'll PM you. Please e-mail me at mcstarch@comcast.net

Car is a project and is disassembled but it's the real deal, I have a lot of extra parts and some of the body work is done.

I'll post a parts list here. Car is in Dover, New Hampshire USA.

    Thanks,

    Jon

Here's a detailed parts list for this project car. I found a 67 GS that is more of what I want so I am serious about selling this project. I have about $8,000 into the project but will listen to all offers!

1965 Buick Gran Sport Convertible Four Speed Project
Super rare numbers matching four speed project car with lots of extra parts.
Body: This is an original 4 speed convertible GS, one of only 598 made. The VIN matches the VIN stamped on the LR code 401 Nailhead motor which is in the car and running. Needs a lot of body work but most of the necessary parts have been collected and go with the car, more on those later. The car is sitting on an open frame, it was like that when I got it. The shifter hole has been widened for a hurst shifter but the factory four speed floor stamping is visible. Holes in trunk over rear body mounts, lower quarters rusted, front edge of rockers rusted. Hood and deck lid are not bad but no body work has been done to them.
Full convertible quarters: These came from a parts source in Texas and are complete from the rear of the door all the way back to the tail and are from a convertible. Media blasted and primed but need some body work. The wheel well lips are a little rusted and bent but the seller gave me clean wheel well patch sections from another car to use. Some dents and punky spots but overall very clean and very hard to find in this condition and this complete.
Two boxed convertible frames: Nicer one I found on V8Buick.com and came from Florida, very solid and straight, still has correct crossmember. Rear cross support is a little bent and punky. Second one is pretty punky but workable.
Motor: Original ’65 LR code 401 nailhead. Has dual quad setup with two Carter AFB 650’s on it. Runs and sounds good, no smoke or knocking. Runs rich though.
Transmission: Non original Muncie. Shifts hard and needs some attention. Hurst shifter installed.
Convertible frame transmission cross member: Correct for boxed frame
Rear end: Original 10 bolt posi, has the tag on it. Not sure of the gear ratio.
Three sets of doors: One very clean, rust free set of door shells came from a parts source in Texas. These have been media blasted and are sitting in primer. They need some body work, one had a dent that was pulled and the other has a small rust hole but I have a patch panel for it. Second set of door shells were on the car when I got it. I have the quarter windows and all internals that came out of these doors. They are rough but could be workable. Third set of complete doors are the original ones which still have the quarter windows, handles and internals intact. These are the roughest, bottom edge is rusted out.
Two sets of fenders: First set started as a very clean, rust free Skylark fenders from Texas parts source. Blasted, primed, holes were filled, GS portholes were cut in. All body work done professionally. These are sitting in primer smooth and ready for paint. Second set are the original GS fenders. They have the factory GS portholes and the original verde green paint is visible where the chrome pieces protected in from oxidization. Very rusted along the bottom in front of and behind the wheel wells.
Five wheel wells: Two original from the car, rusted. Two more that came with the car, not as bad , one of them was pretty nice and has been media blasted and primed. Fifth one I bought on eBay, clean and definitely usable.
Bumpers: Straight but pitted and some rust, probably would need to be rechromed.
Three Core supports: One very clean, rust free bare core support that I bought on eBay. Media blasted and sitting in primer ready to go. Second one is in the car and is from a Skylark, headlights and grill are attached. Third one is the original GS core support, still has the original GS grill, rusted out.
Interior: Buckets seats need to be done, drivers side definitely needs new foam. Rear seats are intact and not bad, would clean up well. Door panels are decent, some rips and tears but intact. Rear quarter panels and arm rest would clean up, kick panels as well.
GS Portholes: Bought off eBay. Not perfect, some pitting but definitely usable.
Miscellaneous: GS badges, heavy duty GS sway bar as well as Skylark sway bar. Two sets of upper and lower, front and rear control arms. One set on the car, one set off. Brake booster and master cylinder from a ’66 Skylark, shop manual, 4 speed shifter console. Door internals and glass from Skylark doors. Rear quarter window internals and glass. Top motor and power top cylinders. (in car and not tested) Various small parts.

Hello Jon. . . once again, I am intrigued with your car. Perhaps you remember we discussed this car earlier this year. ONE major problem I can see is boxing/packaging/loading & shipping all those bits, parts and pieces. Cost prohibitive would be my guess. :Do No: AND..if I were to drag a trailer all the way to Dover from Tampa Bay, load up, and drive back, at todays prices, it could cost me $1400-$1600 in diesel alone. ..Add that to your $8K asking price, I would have almost 10K into the car BEFORE I EVEN START!!! :eek2: Still...I am intrigued as I said. Just not sure HOW intrigued. Yes, your car IS indeed a numbers correct place to begin a nice resto. . . but the car is in need of sooo much work, time & $$ investment. You would have to be very serious about making me a REAL GOOD deal to even consider hauling it all-the-way to Florida. Wheelz, Tampa Bay

I have a few people interested but feel free to make an offer. I hear you on the shipping but I can't help that you're far away...I think you know what this car is worth once it's done so please decide if it's right for you and let me know.

    Thanks,

    Jon

I saw you had a project 65 GS for sale a few years ago. Did you ever sell the project? I am still looking for a 65 or 66 GS convertible 4 speed. If you know of any avaliable, I would appreciate a tip. Thanks,
