I'm finishing up my 67 ragtop (see sig) and my Star Wars air cleaner won't fit with the Edelbrock intake and Holley carb. :af:

This isn't a race car... nor is it a show car... and I'm already over budget....
But I REALLY want to use the star wars air cleaner. I'm willing to sacrific the weight savings of the aluminum intake to make it fit.
But I'm not willing to lose tooo much HP. From what I hear, the Edelbrock isn't worth too many HP anyways. :Do No:

I'd like to look into buying an intake and carb outright...
Or maybe some kind of trade deal for my alum intake (Performer.... circa 1991) and Holley carb (Purchased from Dana & Beth a couple years ago) ??
I also have quite a collection of other 67 parts that we could maybe trade??

One stipulation... I don't want to have to mess with the quadrajet (at all). I'm too stupid to work on them! :pp
Nor can I afford to send one to an expert to get it set up right now.
I want to be able to bolt it on and go.

If you have a carb and/or intake... let's hear about it. :TU:
Thanks
:beer

PS... since the cast iron intakes weigh about 750 lbs..... Shipping will be pricey, so being somewhere around Ohio would be a bonus. :Brow:

I replied to your PM Brett. Thanks again :TU:

One question I forgot to ask .....
Are there any major differences between "pre-smog" and "post-smog" intakes?
(My heads are 72 if that makes a difference)

Common sense tells me that I want a "pre-smog" intake.... but if there's no real performance disadvantage to a smog intake I'd probably use one of those too.
:Do No:

As a matter of fact... I just remembered as I was typing this... I forgot that I have a complete "smog" 455 (1976?) out in my shed. I'd rather not open up that engine until I'm ready to do something with it, but I suppose I could borrow the intake for awhile if smog intakes aren't too bad and someone has a carb to sell me.

Hey Rick, I'm gonna be swapping out the 70 BB in my GS before long, within the next couple weeks, I hope. I haven't ran it too much, so I can't say how the carb performs though. Let me know if your interested in any of it.....I'm curious, are you sure you'll have clearance issues? It seems to me the Performer is only 1/2' or so higher. Heck, I got 2 engines set up, I'll measure them tomorrow....

What size is your Holley? I have a 1236403 intake, 71 I think and a Osbourne Q/Jet I might be willing to trade depending on what the Holley is. The manifold has a divorced choke on it also.

Wow.. lots of responses!
Andy, I'm sure it doesn't fit. My car is fully assembled and I can't close the hood with the StarWars on it. :Dou:
I'm hoping for more of a "performance oriented" Qjet ready to bolt on, but I'll definately keep you in mind. Thanks for the offer. I might be in touch. :TU:

Jamie... kinda the same thing as I replied to Andy. Thanks.
btw... Your mini-starter worked out great! No shims required, fits and works like a champ. Thanks again!!! :TU:

Dave... "Osborne" is all I needed to read. I'm interested.
My holley is "small". (prolly too small for a 455) I bought it so long ago (from Dana & Beth) that I can't remember what it is. I'll snap a pic or two and get the numbers off it today and post them.
If you end up not wanting to trade.... would you be interested in an outright sale of the Qjet?
Thanks
:TU:

If your carb is big enough maybe we can work out a swap, like my carb for yours. That'd save on shipping costs, and you could use your smog era intake, or we could swap the whole setup there are lots of options. Would you happen to be going to Bowling Green next week? I'll send a pic of the carb through e-mail, and if you want PM me your phone number and I'll call, we can work a deal out faster on the phone.

Sorry can't e-mail, info unavailable on your profile Rick.

Here's a couple pics of the carb and intake currently on the car..
The numbers on the Holley are:
3310-6
2870

From what I can gather... it's a 750 CFM (vacuum secondary)
It looks like it was barley used before I bought it. I've only driven the car twice now. There's nothing wrong with it and it runs great. It's just that my air cleaner won't fit. :(
But with that said.... I would guess it's too small for a 455 unless maybe it was bone stock. :Do No:

Dave, if you're still interested, let me know and I'll PM you my contact info as requested. :TU:

For what it's worth... if anyone is interested in a full trade.... I would throw in the dual feed fuel line with gauge and heat shield/spacer under the carb since I would have no use for them.

Rick

750 Holley sounds fine to me, I knew a guy who was running 11s with a 780 Holley, just takes jetting and tuning. I'm interested for sure, you didn't mention if your going to BG. Yea send the contact info and I'll get in touch.

Dave and I have reached an agreement.
So it looks like my Star Wars troubles are close to being resolved.
