Yes, its called the Barrett Jackson effect. Some people think that because they put 30 grand into a car, its actually worth 30 grand more than they paid for it

Knock a $1000 off the asking price for every inch over 17 inches the wheels are, so that's $9K less right there.....

Also why do people ask top dollar, but don't take the time to present the vehicle. Engine bay should have been cleaned and tidied up and WTF get your rubbish and crap out of the back seat and floor

The guy actually took some good pictures considering its Craigslist. -

    - pictures aren't taken in pitch black conditions
    - The guy actually took it out of the garage
    - There isn't a car cover on it
-There is no debris or tires on the hood
    - Its not parked on a trailer
    - its not buried to its roof in snow
    - pictures aren't upside down
    - car isn't 400 feet away from the camera

And it doesn't say like most Craigslist ads, "Doesn't run, but all it needs is [insert some cheap part]" If all it needs to run is a distributor cap or a battery, GO GET ONE!. A running car tends to sell better.

Cars and people like that make we wish I could afford to go buy it then rite in front of them take a dump on the hood then set it on fire and walk away after telling them "now thats what the car is REALLY worth" the look on their face would bring me so much joy

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Then they idiot seller would win because he got his $$$. Then all his friends would be calling you to buy their junk.

I think the guy misunderstood the guy making the offer. He meant 16 hundred, not 16k. and he was being generous at that.

"Ran when parked" is a craigslist favorite.

Don't let the ads with high prices get you upset. They won't get it.

You guys all have valid points, but here's the thing: if he handles it right, he'll get way more than you guys would think.

Now before you shun me from v8 world, hear me out!!!

That car is never going to appeal to the knowledgeable classic car guy, much less a knowledgeable Buick guy. But I've seen cars like that change hands for stupid sums because they appeal to the crowd that knows hip-hop/"donk"/"hoopty"/name you slang term culture. Guys that carry "rubber band stacks" (again, name your slang term) that they may or may not have come by via legit means, but they are into cars like that and aren't "car guys" per-say, but classic cars with big gawdy wheels are the in thing in the culture/environment they are immersed in. Now before anybody goes labelling me a racist/bigot/whatever, notice I made no mention of anything of the sort (I seem to recall a thread recently about a similar styled car that got way out of hand in that regard). All I'm saying is I've seen it happen, some guys are into those cars and a big set of wheels is all it takes to raise the price a bunch. I don't get it, but different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Even a 4 door doesn't deserve to be humiliated like this!

    Translated from the original German:

    "Stupid stays stupid;
against which pills don't work, and even Aspirin is useless."

Problem is, he just might get a heck of a lot more than what one would think for that car. All it takes is one gullible fool who has a deep wallet and a thick mind. We all know there are enough of them out there that aren't very loud or running for some elected position somewhere.

If it's his,and it ain't stolen........he has a constitutional right to sell it. I admire him for not undervaluing his property. I think he is nukking futts, but more power to him.

Agreed. Me personally?? I wouldn't be interested in giving him much over 10% of his asking price. But if he gets anywhere close to that strong of money for it, hey, well played.

Get over yourselves guys. This happens about once a month. Someone finds a car like this for sale posts the ad, and the rest of you $hit on it from your soapbox. Paint looks arrow straight and the interior looks good too.

All I want to know is what a "great lake edition" is?

A big compliment to the owner/photographer by leaving all his crap laying around,
it does help highlight the interior.............
