Here is how my GSX showed up.

The shipper says it is just a scratch and wants to give me $75 bucks compenstion? I say it is a scratch and this is not how I turned the car over to them. I said I would take $200 and deal with it myself. I shipped Two GSX's with them at a cost of approx $2800.

What do you Guys think? I have my own bussiness and would jump on the $200 to keep a good customer happy.

To fix this right on a mint car it would take more than $75

I will not use this shipper again.

Is it structurally damaged or just paint scraped off?

You did it right the first time, don't settle for $75.

It is actually made the radius corner a little flat and the thickness of the pan is in question, metal shaving all over. If this was some ok car that was not detailed I would just paint it and not make a big deal out of it. But this is a detailed car that was perfect when I gave it to them.

It is obvious that the car was saddled too low in the cross brace, this did not allow adequate clearance for the pan.

What bothers me the most is the song and dance you get when trying to get some cooperation. When you go to ship they tell you how they are licenced and bonded and the whole nine yard. The fact is when something does happen to your car they try to skate on this stuff every time.

It really is not even the money thing, it is the principal.

The company that shipped the car is:

    Art Dumais Transport
    3524 Emory Dr
    Holiday, Florida

This picture is to show what calibre of car we are talking about.

When the Guy loaded the car he did a excellent job and was very careful. I do believe they can do a good job but sometimes things happen, that is the nature of the business. If your going to transport High dollar classics you need to address the good with the bad. I paid in full up front without question. Now I don't get calls returned and when I do talk to them they act like I am trying to give them the shaft. Im I not the same guy that just paid them 2800 bones? :af: NOT COOL!

$75 Bucks?? a shop would not even throw it up on a lift to look at it for that!

I know this is a long shot at actually occuring, but hows this company going to compensate you for this engine if you do indeed loose oil pressure and lose this powerplant. The $200.00 should sound verrrrry cheap to them considing the flip side of what could happen...... Get an estimate and tell em "you should have taken my $200.00 settlement offer".
Moral of my story, You need a new oil pan and you need compensation for the labor involved to do/have the repair completed. You want it fixed and fixed right, am I correct? You showed them the money, now its a little payback time. They have insurance to cover these kinda things I would think.

I TOTALLY agree with Wayne! You need a new oil pan and the labor to put it on. Get a couple of estimates done and put a official claim in.

They really should have took you up on your 200 dollar offer. :Dou:

You were too generous with them. Put the hammer down!

    Insurance

It will all boil down to the fact that when the car was dropped off at my Buddies in Seattle and that He signed off on the car. At this time they had told me their was a scratch in the oil pan. I said as long as it was not huge I would not make a big deal out of it. When I finally seen the pictures I realized it was more than a scratch.

Probably the best way to handle it is to turn it in on my own Insurance, they will ask how it happened. I will tell them the shipper did it and they will go after the shippers insurance co.

At this point the shipper will show that the car was signed off on at delivery. Now it gets into a big pissing match. The only way I was aware of the problem is that: when the transport stoped in Texas to Pick up my Dads white GSX my car was on that same transport. My Dad pointed out the damage to the driver, that is how I got the pics in this post, taken by my Dad in Texas. At this point the Driver called me and said he had put a small scratch in the oil pan and would spray some paint on it. I said "don't touch the car!" I will deal with it when I see it. He said they would make it right. When I finally got the pics the car had been delivered to Seattle to my Buddy's.

This is not my 1st go around with shipper damaging cars, every time they hose you. I had a 911 Porsche years ago that another shipper put a 5" long scrape down the side soo deep it was in the metal, they wanted to write me a check for $250 bucks. They did the damage appraisal themselves. It was a custom color that was a pain to match. My estimates by adjustors was $1500. Never got paid.
