would the hemi killer TA98H be to much for my street combo? I'm going to be running a 10:25:1 464 with 3800ish stall, holley 1050hp, sp1, ported iron stage 1's 260 int/170ex with the bigger ss valves. It's going into a 69 GS with a built TH350, I just want to know if it's somewhat streetable, is there any low end with this cam. I don't want it to be like my dads 396 chev where you have to cruise around in second gear pulling 3500 rpms just to keep the big solid circle track cam happy.

I have the Lunati Hemi-Killer which should be very similar in terms of timing events.Others in the know will probably recommend a dual-pattern cam with your heads(more exhaust duration than intake).I have pretty basic TA Stage 2 SEs and the 241/241 works OK on the street. The cam in my car is a pussycat.Idles at 750 RPM,power brakes work pretty darn well,3.08 gears and a Jim Weise VP convertor.Gets 17.5 U.S. mpg on the road too.Maybe my lobes are worn!

Regarding this to be a single pattern cam: I don't know about the TA version of the cam but on the early Lunati Hemi Killer, the intake & exhaust lobe profiles were different, even though both had 241 at .050.

Based on what I've heard, this cam is pretty much right on the edge of streetability. According to TA Perf. your power assist for your brakes will be marginal at best and the idle quality is considered fair. I know there are varibles that affect these things but I would consider them if your accessories are important to you. I personally went with the TA288-92H Cam. It's a single pattern design and made 560 hp in the CC shootout. That was with SE Aluminum heads as well. Not to mention one of the board members here runs it in his " Protour GS " and mightily embarrassed a guy on Youtube with his 600 hp Mercedes SL65. He too stays it's a good cam, has good street manners and makes good torque and power. The choice is yours. Good luck. John Biggs. :)

    John,
I was considering that cam for awhile. It's not quite single pattern, it's 231/234 on a 110. That 110 LSA develops great top end power. I'd love a roller version of that with .550 lift.

Im running the 298H cam. I havent found that the vac brakes are a problem. That cam likes to rev though...... it will go right past 6000 before you know it. Im running solid lifters on it now but started out running hydraulics. If I were to do it all over again I think I might run a cam that peters out a little closer to my self imposed 6k redline.

That sounds like a pretty hefty engine combo...I wonder how built your TH-350 is...With a milder 455 (much) I destroyed my "built" TH-350 a couple of years ago just lighting the tires up!
I prefer milder cams for street use. As previous posts mentioned, there is a fine line crossed that makes a car impossible to drive on the street. How are the power brakes and other accessories affected by this cam?

It's supposed to be able to take 700 horse and 650 pounds of torque, it's got a "level 10 clutch kit" Not exactly a trans guru so That could mean the clutches are made out of chromoly for all I know. It was built for the fellows race car that im buying it off of.

I just had TA Performance do my 455 Stag 1 build up. I have the hemi killer cam. I haven't had a problem with vac for my brakes, 4 wheel disc. It runs pretty smooth at 7-800 rpm idle. motor is 455 .030 over, 10.18:1 compression, TA stage 1 aluminum heads, edelbrock aluminum intake & 850 carb. Runs on pump gas. I actually was expecting a larger lope to the engine, but it doesn't have that big cam sound.
