I've been looking for a 455 and 400 for almost as long as I was looking for a GS (kept my options open). Well now I have the GS and I am still on the hunt for the other two. I have a chance to get both for $500, from a 74 Electra ( compatible?).. No leaks no rebuilds 88,000 miles on them. Is it worth it? I'd have to rent a truck and drive 3 hours one way to get it.... So that also factors in. Thanks for your input. I have a 72 GS350-2 auto.
Unless both cores are unbuildable, it is worth it. Adding in the truck/van rental( don`t know anyone with a small trailer??), and gas for a 6 hour tour bring the total up abit. Still may be worth it. Bear in mind the th400 is probably a long shaft , so you will have to get it shortened,(new output shaft and short rear cover w/seal $$). It only matters if it is WORTH it to you. It is a reasonable asking price for both, again, if they are rebuildable cores. You can always get there and offer the seller less money and see if he will take it.
