Ok, I have a 1977 buick LeSabre Custom Landu. It has 68,000 miles on it, and when I got it it had bad Head Gaskets from sitting. Also it jumped timing on the way home due to the plastic timming gear. Ok now that that is said. I pulled the heads and had them surfaced and rebuilt. They did have to shave them but not sure how far, I think 60 thousands. I put a new timming chain and gears in and put all back together. Now my upper end sounds like an old slant six after it warms up. also my check oil light blinks off and on. I put in a melling hi valume oil pump and the light still blinks. So the Question is do you think I have low oil presure or do I need to get adjustable push rods? I did install new stock ones but maybe they were to short. Also I have a set of Aluminum Rockers, are they any better then my Steel ones?

First thing.... get a real oil pressure gauge on that to check first. If the pressure is ok, I think you are going to have to go with a set of adjustable pushrods, or ones that are made the exact right length. Shaving the heads 0.060 has changed the preload on the lifters. Could be bleeding off pressure in the lifters and valves may also not be closing all the way.
Either way I know that TA Performance makes adjustables or custom lengths.
If you are running higher compression pistons, I would also check for valve clearance if they shaved that much off the heads. This would depend on the cam also I guess...... a stock cam is probably ok.

I will check on the push rods, are the aluminum rockers worth putting on or not?

    Thanks much

The aluminum rockers are weaker than the steel ones....... and roller rockers are very expensive.

    NJBuickRacer I'd rather be racing...

Did you drop the pan and get all the pieces of nylon out of the oil pump pickup when you did the timing chain?

I have not done that yet, I was thinking that may be part of the problem. I have been to busy with other cars to pull the engine, but I think that is wear I am going. Gives me a good reason to do a full rebuild as a winter project if I can keep everybody elses stuff out of my garage.
