Would worn advance weights and abscence of advance stop bushing cause high rpm ignition problems? What are possible symptoms?

You'd have way too much advance, which would show up as detonation / pinging. Also, your ignition curve would likely be inconsistent, as the weights moved around each time the engine is revved.

    jamyers is exactly correct.

I assume this is a stock GM points-type distributor. Visit NAPA (or any other REAL parts store) and buy the stop bushing and installer tool, and buy new weights.

    DP117 Points weight GM #1181371
    DP118 Points weight GM #1180902
    DP121 Points weight GM #1965843
DP100 Mechanical advance stop (for points)(installation tool)
DP101 Mechanical advance stop bushing for points dizzy

NAPA has the pivot pins for the weights as DP109, but it lists them for HEI. I don't know if they'll work on a points distributor.
