im looking to put forged pistons in my 455 when i build it and it might be able to go standard. of course im not going to order till i know for sure however if it would stay standard ill go that route. im also looking to get a 9 to 1 compression ratio with 71cc heads. i found some pistons over at summit for $49.00 a piece but they start at .30 over. are there some cheaper out there that will go standard? what do you guys think?

Jeremy, what are you trying to get out of the engine? If buying new pistons, personally I wouldn't even consider leaving it a standard bore. The cylinders are probably not round, probably are tapered, plus it really should be honed with a torque plate to get the best ring seal.

also why 9-1 compression? why not go 9.5 or even 10-1 you can still use pump gas and get more power.

i dont want that high of a powered motor,i just want a good running motor with some bite and a chance of surviving a nitrous hit later. i plan on putting in gs valves,a t/a 212 cam, headers, aluminum manifold,a good qaudrajet(about 700-800 cfm),and of course forged pistons. and is there any pistons at there at .10 to .20 over for about the same price?

Little chance it ending up being a standard bore with round cylinders in spec unless you have a NOS short block. Even then I would not bet.

If you want to use NOS, build a 350 engine.

okay lets put it this way im looking for a solid set of cheap buick 455 forged pistons, im thinking about going .10 to .20 over cause the pistons are pretty tight in the bore as is.

Once the out of round is measured (likely 1-2 thou.) and a hone to clean it up and make the bores round again the odds are you will have too much piston to wall clearance.
.010 or 020 over in a forged piston is not avail.. The cheapest forged pistons available are in you're link. The .030 are fine. They weigh about the same as stock. I just bought some file fit .030 over moly rings for a 455 for $27 on ebay BTW.
