My bet is this one will go for nearly a grand: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&tc=photo&rd=1&item=2482147011&category=42606
Yes, unfortunately, my father had to give $650 for his last year. Nice wheel that really was the finishing touch, but I could not have done it.
I feel really lucky. I found mine in a junkyard in near perfect condition, horn bar was perfect,..no cracks anywhere. Bought the entire car for $400. At least I know now I got my money's worth. I've been watching this auction like it is some kind of main event.
I like those parts cars too. I bought a Cutlass S a few years back that had buckets, Hurst shifter and the sport steering wheel. Put the wheel on Ebay and paid for the car ($350). Then I had everthing left including a good 350 engine. Little harder to find a Riviera wheel in the yards now though. $400 was a very good deal.
Are those wheels plastic and not real wood? I have a three spoke "simulated" wood wheel on my '68 GS and I did not think that a real "wood" wheel ever came from the factory (in 1965).o No: The plastic wheels are so prone to cracking I had a hard time justifing the price I paid for my "uncracked" 3 spoke. Not even near $700...:eek2:
Mike, they are plastic or some other unnatural compound. The one in my car looks very good. I bought all that somebody had a few years ago and still have a couple laying around. Didn't pay anywhere near $700 for all 4. Larry
And I gave one away to a friend for nothing about 10 years ago...........free.......oh, the pain. ou: :spank:
Well, it went for $730, less than I predicted but more than I ever expected one to go for. This one looked pristine from the pictures though. Makes me wanna
