I won this car on e-bay not sure If got a deal or not but the seller seems to be a real prick, selling under his mother in laws E-bay account and accepting payment through paypal on what he claims is his wife's paypal account. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...MEWN:IT&viewitem=&item=250039647712&rd=1&rd=1 Any thoughts or warnings, not local so going to have car shipped.
looks like trouble!!! mil's account??? seller has o feedback :error: for the price it sold for,i gotta believe a lot of people avoided it for many reasons, just one of those too good to be true things.hope i'm wrong
Do you know where in NC it is? If it is close by me I would be gald to go check it out for you. Where are you located?
I'm in upstate NY, car is in Huntersville outside charlotte. I'd be willing to spring for gas and dinner if you feel like taking a drive.
Well, the car is real enough, and the pics show he has the access to it(didn't snap a shot from a car window). The VIN is all wrong... The feedback is a possible issue, but..... As for wife's paypal, and mother-in-law's ebay account, that's just the way it often is in the South. You might be pleasantly surprised. Dan
Well, according to the seller, all you have to do is restore it then re-list it for $40K. Can't imagine why you'd be concerned...
I was just down at Huntersville on Tue. night! It is a 1 hr. drive from here down the interstate. If you can wait until next week, we might be able to work something out. I have family coming into town tonight for the weekend, so I won't be able to go anywhere until after they leave. Also, one of my good friends from school lives down there and he could go check it out easily--he is an engineer like me and knows as much about old cars as I do. You can email me at stonesautomotive@juno.com
Well, if it's of any comfort it looks to be a woman who took the photos ... notice the red nails in the side window shot's reflection (could be mom or wife). Trust me, I know the feeling ... I bought mine off eBay for a heck of a lot more without an escrow agent. Mine was a great experience though ... hope yours works out the same; good luck!
Hope it works out for you, if so, killer deal. Looks like a woman took the pictures if you look close in the side window reflection in one of them, maybe mom-in-law? Keep us updated!
I work in Huntersville, NC. Have you paid the guy yet? What concerns do you have? I am not looking to get in a fight with the guy(you mentioned he is a prick), but if you clear a lunch visit with him, I would be glad to swing by and check it out for ya? I will be in work clothes, so no crawling around on the gound etc.... I can give it a once over and confirm or deny any issues you may be concerned with? Shoot me a PM or an email and let me know. monziac@hotmail.com Thanks, -Jon
Whatever you do send through Paypal, USE YOUR CREDIT CARD as the payment. Pay for it all on your CC if you can. The Paypal and ebay "protection" programs are a joke. MUCH easier just to dispute the charges on your credit card as fraudulent if things turn out badly.
won this on ebay Use www.escrow.com they won't release him the money till you get and inspect the Buick. He have to open an account with them to recieve the money once you release it. I have used them in the pass. I won this on ebay.
Pulled the trigger and bought Pulled the trigger and paid for the car sight unseen. Gonna consider this one an $1800.00 scratch off lottery ticket and hope for the best. After he got his money the seller became much more helpfull. Car is being shipped today should know more soon. It is a 350-4 with dual exhaust, runs great, no rust through anywhere and comes with the title. Give me any three of those four claims and I'm happy.
I was surprised that working in Huntersville, NC you didn't take me up on my offer to view the car for ya? Hopefully your pleased with the car.... I love the color! Jon
I am glad you were happy with escrow.com, I was not. If you use them be sure to read all the fine print. I bought a car on ebay, used escrow.com, got the car shipped from CA to OH for $1065.00, was not pleased, escrow.com said to ship it back before I get my money back, that is a $2130.00 loss right off the top. That covers a lot of unhappiness.
Thanks for the offer and if things had gone differently I would have taken ya up on checking it out. But as usual timing was everything. This whole thing started playing out the week before I was going to Vegas for a little R and R. It was a question of worrying about the car or worrying about my business and whether or not my two pair would hold up against a possible three of a kind. But thanks for the offer
Hard to tell from the grainy photos, but that's a Skylark grille. Compare it to the GS grill http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971...tegoryZ10076QQihZ013QQitemZ230049637929QQrdZ1
