I'm using the Wiseco Pro Tru reverse domes -22cc units. They came with rings and are are good bang for the buck. These combined with decking and ccing and correct gasket gave me an 11.2 static CR with a .040" quench. I followed Wiseco's recomendation for piston/wall clearance and never had issues.

    Good choice

I ran the same ones on my last motor.I like the reverse dome with iron heads.I think 5 of them are still usable for my next performance shortblock.

I would guess we have installed 20 set of dish's in the past couple years and probly 10 sets of the flat tops. We sold 3 times that in that time frame and have had no issues at all. in fact I have a set of dished ones in my blower motor that makes WELL over tha 1000HP all I did is change the pin in it to a tappered tool steel desighned for big power.

yeah i was looking at the flat tops. right now with my 25cc dish pistons in the hole .005 and .040 gasket, i should have 10.44 c/r. ill have to figure it out again with the 8cc pistons also i could put some thicker gaskets on.

why is it that no one offers off the shelf .03 over pistons for buick anymore except if you have it custom made or go with fed. mogul. i called diamond, cp, bme, je, wiseco, ross and they all said the same thing.

Cody everyone has gone to .038 over bore do the fact you can get a killer ring pack a .030 over bore on a Buick is dimensionally Buick only so the standard width ring is all that is available. So builders like to use ring packs that work better with less tension than stock to make more power based on seal and the pressures put on the cylinder walls. You would be surprised at the amount of HP that can be found in rings and cylinder finish. There is also an issue with supply and demand when demand drop so will the supply. And the banks are really watching companies and what they have on had.

Bob, do you check the blocks for core shift before you bore them to .04 or is it not really that big of a deal? the block is a 1970
