I have a 1972 GS 455 that was restored and has a 1971 Stage 1 engine and tranny. The engine accessories need to be attached and the wiring harness reinstalled. I assume the wiring harness is from the 1972. Any idea if I will have any problem wiring to the motor and motor accessories shuch as generator, AC, starter??

Not sure if I should make seperate threads but I have a few more questions regarding correct equipment I hope can be answered. I ask because it appears that some items may be from the 72 GS 455 and not for a 71 Stage 1. Hopefully they are the same for both.

    1. Generator - I have Delco Remy #1102448A 2A 6 12VNEV with a double 2 1/2" pulley #1964758. Is this correct for the 1971 Stage 1??

    2. Starter - Delco Remy #11108367 8K9 Mfg by McKinnon Industries LTD in Canada. This starter case may be cracked so if I need to replace, what unit should I buy and where can I get the correct replacement?

    3. AC Compressor - Frigidaire #C11222 Model #5910789 Low pressure 130 High Pressure 300 Shows Skylark 3.75 lbs, Centurion/Lesabre and Electra/Riviera. Has a 5" diameter pulley. I read somewhere that a compressor for a Stage 1 car should have a 5 1/2" pulley. Any ideas here?

    Thanks,
    George

The engine harness whould hook right up, the only thing that might differ is a wire to an idle speed solenoid, if you've got one. It goes from the a/c compressor 'trigger' wire to the solenoid in front of the carb (if you've got one).

The other part numbers I don't know about, but I'm pretty sure the Stage 1 GS's had bigger a/c compressor pulleys to offset their deeper rear end gears (3.42's)
