How hich of a temp can the insulator on wires stand?

im planning on changine my wiring, the wires that run to the starter, because whoever had my car before did it pretty ugly.

i want to run them fron the starter, against the block (pretty close to the header/manifold), and then up the back of the block/over the tranny to my firewall.

i was going to wrap them in electrical tape, and then put them in a wire insulator (plastic).

will they survive, or should i look for a better place for them to go?

There's many different grades of insulation, some wires even have fiberglass insulation. You should look into a fiberglass wire sheath, they are available in different diameters and lengths. You should be able to find one in the right size to protect the wiring, you should also keep it as far away from the headers as possible.

rather than electrical tape, use the repo wiring loom non sticky wrap.or even header wrap.
