OK, motors back in (71 GS 455). I need to replace the dash and engine wiring harness. the original stuff has been hacked and spliced over the years. So the question is this, do I go with a stock replacement harness and then cut and splice it or start with a Painless Wiring GM Musclecar harness. Reason I was thinking of the Painless route is that I'm changing to a modern alternator, have a full MSD ignition and will be putting in a Vintage Air system as well as aftermarket gauges and all of this would require modifying the new stock one anyway. Thoughts :Do No:

Go with whatever you are capable of installing. But hopefully it'll be the Painless, as you get a lot more places to plug in to with it.

    try M&H Wiring http://www.wiringharness.com

They make stock harnesses with correct connectors and wire colrs. They will also modify for HEI, internally regulated alternater etc. Best would be to plan what you are going to do and call them. ALL of the repro houses use M&H stuff - GO DIRECT

Have used Factory Fit wiring harnesses with good success. They also look correct. I would go with eaither them or M and H. With the money our cars are worth know I believe an obviously non-stock looking Painless harness would reduce the value of your car. Just my opinion. Factory type under dash harnesses are very expensive however about $500 I think.
